“Nothing to complain about”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2011

Just back from a weeks stay at Los Dalmatas. Read a few of these reviews and sort of agree with the common theme about the lifts. We were on the 8th floor and around mealtimes it was often quicker to walk down. We finally figured out that it was quicker to go up from floor E than the ground, at mealtimes (everyone was heading to the restaurant so the lifts were getting to E more often than to the ground floor). Other times the lifts were OK.

Hotel is dated and the furniture is a little worn but it is all serviceable. There was a water stain on the ceiling of our room. I assume this was from the A/C and to be fair, I've a much worse one on my bedroom ceiling at home at the moment :-). The room was not the biggest I had but was OK (and much bigger than the Palm Beach). Bathroom was a good size and the shower was fine.

Housekeeping was excellent. Everything, including the balcony area, was cleaned every day.

The staff were all polite, even in the face of some very drunk and sweary residents (thankfully we only had the swearies company for an hour or so). The head waiter was polite, amusing and helpful. He directed us to the least busy area of the restaurant and contrary to another review, never insisted that we sit where he wanted. The food was average at the buffet but they had a themed night every night and that food was excellent.

The drop off is not outside the hotel but the "walk" is minimal - you walk further from reception to the pool bar!

Despite the ban on reserving sun loungers about 60% were 'towelled' by the time we hit breakfast. Of course, that included the best spots.Four in particular intrigued us as the blue towels were there every day and gone every night but we never saw the sad people who owned them.

The customers were mainly over 50's. There were only one or two families with small children. Although we never chose to get involved, there seemed to be a good activities available during the day. We only saw a little of the evening entertainment and it was OK but with 'Elvis' etc. a 15 minute walk away, we preferred to hit the town for entertainment.

Given the average age of the guests, the hotel was, as you might expect, pretty quiet and we never heard a peep during the night. Perhaps we are heavy sleepers!

I'd agree with other comments that there did not seem to be much in the way of disabled access. There were stairs to the pool, did not count but perhaps 20. Not exactly climbing Kilimanjaro for us but irritating never the less. Not sure how they'd get around that though.

In summary, the hotel needs to be refurbished to modern standards but the staff are excellent and service top notch. I'd go back.

Room Tip: Go for a low floor and avoid the lift hassle.

Just back from 1 weeks stay at this hotel, food fine, rooms ok , but Oh! those steps
Steps everywhere counted 32 going up to the swimming pool, and 32 down if you needed a toilet, totally unaceptable it should have been made quite clear in the advertising of this hotel

Everything else was fine had to pay £32 pounds for hire of a fridge which I thought a bit steep
went with friends haad a good holiday but was slightly spoilt by the fact of having to climb all those steps the staff were very helpful and friendly

Where do i begin?.First point is the transfer bus dropped us off at the bottom of the road which meant a 200yd walk up a slight hill to get to the hotel. There was a slope to drag the luggage up but needed to be wider, reception is accessed through 2 sets of doors (neither are automatic) into what can only be described as a throw back to the 70s, it looked, felt and smelt dated. However checkin was fairly quick and efficient and we got ourselves a room on the 1st floor(THANK GOD).On opening the room door was pleasantly surprised, quite a large room nice large bathroom with 2 sinks ample wardrobe space and a large balcony with a sea view.We then decided to ceck out the pool bar(well it was 1pm) and got the lift down to the ground floor walked round the corner and up about 4 steps to the indoor bar(dont open until 4pm)/lounge area to the doors leading out only to be greeted by 32(yes 32)steps to get to the pool/terrace area. Once we had recovered from it seemed climbing everest we found it to be probably one of the nicest areas we have found. After a couple of drinks(full strength) we were ready to eat so made the trek back down the 32 steps through the bar area to the steps to the restaurant ( another 27) to be greeted by a maitre,d who showed you to where HE wanted you to sit, food was pretty descent with the usual salad bar. soup and choices of main courses and desserts this was probably the last time we had a descent meal it went downhill faster than eddie the eagle. After evening "meal" we went back up to the pool bar where the entertainment was going on there were 2 guys playing 1 on organ the other on bongo drums and quite entertaining, the entertainment team, especially Monika were a bunch of nutters(ha ha) and kept us in stitches all day.By the time tiredness had reared its head we were looking forward to a good nights sleep,FAT CHANCE, people coming back to there rooms could not shut the door without slamming them shut if they used the bathroom you could hear everything (and i mean everything)the noise from the wc flush would have woken the dead and because the balcony doors were made of aluminium you could here everything going on outside from people walking past at 3 in the morning singing to the 3 bars at the end of the road until3 or4 in the morning. However on a plus note there are quite a few good bars not to far awayOne in particular was the REGENT located just around the corner behind the chemist which serves trad english fayre including probably the best cod, chips and mushy peas ive tasted all for 10 euros for the two of us.To sum this hotel up Great location,poolbar/terrace good entertainmen t good accessibility is appalling, noisy restaurant staff are a bunch of jobsworths if your looking for decent food forget it this hotel should never be a 4 star ive stayed in better3 star needless to say we will not be returning

Just returned from a 5 day visit to this hotel. There were 5 of us and we had two rooms between us. We all found the food excellent, plenty of selection and no hassle or kids running around in the dining room. We were able to get a sunbed round the pool at any time of the day.The location can not be beaten, just 2 minutes walk to the beach. We were all inclusive and were very pleased with all the facilities on offer. It does take a long time if you wait for a lift, but we were on the 4th floor so very rarely bothered waiting for them. All in all I think this hotel is great value for money and would definately go back again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on a low floor so you don't have to wait for the litfs.

We are a party of sixteen, 8 adults & 8 children 3 of witch are babies age 2 & under. The hotel stank, our sons room was filthy and the bed had not been changed or made from the previous holiday guests. In all 4 rooms that we booked the bathrooms were stinking and filthy and we couldn't use the towels!! They also stank. No cots were provided for the babies, lifts were terrible and the staff very rude. When we complained we were told they were to busy and had more important things to do, and we had only just checked in by that time!. Our travel agent was fantastic in finding us all different accommodation and relocated to the Bali the next morning we did have to stay one night in the Hotel from hell, none of got in to bed, none of us ate or drank in the hotel as god only knows what the hygiene was like in the kitchens ect. When we discussed the hotel with any locals they laughed and said oh no not again. Four star is what we all expected, one star is what we got from the dump of a hotel the Bali was such a pleasure to walk in to.

The hotel was generally good, staff, entertaiment, cleanliness, location absolutly superb. My problem was with the hot meals. Breakfast for instance. A lot of fried eggs ccoked up and left until they were gone, then another lot cooked up. They could stand for ages depending on how busy the dining room was. This went for all the hot food. You don't know how long its been standing. Luch and evening meals were very repetitive. Pork of some variety was always on the menu. There was choice but very limited. They had a theme for each night with a seperate serving area, Italian had pasta- lasagne - bolagnaise sauce. Mexican had tortillas, chilli con carne - gaucamole. They tried but the food was beyond them. Had breakfast out at Marianos on the beach 2 mornings. Full English Breakfast for 2 euros, and far superior to the Hotels fare.

Room Tip: Don't book a room above the 6th floor, the lifts are a problem and could keep you waiting for a...
