“Super location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

We had All Inclusive (AI), 1 week. Food was very good and variated. Room was good. The bar was super, with international brands. Bar chart on tables, told what was included in AI. Almost everything. Pool, jacuzzi and sunbeds on roof 6th floor. Pool was to cold but jacuzzi was warm. Should be a pool bar, but it was not open. Had to go down to bar, 1st floor. Location of hotel is super, overlooking pedestrian streets, close to old town an beach. Hotel has mostly older guests, entertainment and live music for people older than me (47) Nothing wrong with that. On the negative side; should have been better information on how AI system worked. 2 small elevators, very busy, could take long time to get up to pool. Construction work on fasade during our vacation.

Room Tip: Room 310 overlooking Calle Gambo and pedestrian streets. Good entertainment to sit and watch people...

cracking little hotel , brilliant location literally 5 mins (if that) to the beach, perfect for old town and promenade ,

rooms are basic but very clean, the guests are mainly the more elderly .
restaurant and reception staff very friendly and helpful however bar staff not so,
meals are buffet style but very good selection and very well set out.

i cant recommend the location any higher . plenty of cafes/bars and the famous Pig n whistle bar is less than 100 yards away

Room Tip: if possible go for a room on a higher floor to avoid noise from street. an essential item take a tr...

Nice hotel near to Levante Beach and old town. Food was buffet and all staff were very friendly. Swimming pool is very small with limited sunbeds. There is a sauna but it has to be booked for use at least one hour in advance and cost 6 euros. Has a gym but looked fairly small (door was locked).

Room Tip: I had a 4th floor sea facing room but looks onto buildings across the road

Visiting for second time & still can't fault the place - location perfect - clean - comfortable - quiet - meals value for money paid. House wine excellent & extremely inexpensive. No problems as long as your patient with the lifts.

Pleasantly surprised by the hotel, very clean, great standard of food and branded spirits (included in all inclusive) definitely caters for the older clientele, but as 'young ones' we were made to feel welcome. Because of the location of the pool on the roof, was fairly quiet with plenty sun beds. Entertainment was more geared to the older crowd (reminiscent of Hawaiian ballroom in Heidi hi).
Most of staff pleasant, but as always the case the attitudes of some waiters/bar staff varied.
The location a bonus -right on main shopping street : but be aware the hotel is located in a pedestrian precinct you will need to walk with cases to the hotel from drop off points.

On the whole would recommend the hotel, as a base for a quiet holiday, with the Old Town and beach right on the door step, away from the tacky Brit's abroad new town !

There was 3 of us staying here with 2 balcony rooms at the end of March '13 All Inclusive (A/C). Firstly, we were dropped off approx.; 80 metres away and had to walk due to the pedestrian only entrance of the Hotel Avenida, which was no big deal but would of been a nightmare if it was afternoon or early evening as this area gets very crowded with Spanish. The Hotel foyer was small but the staff were really polite and helpful with very good English, 2 small lifts (4 max people in each lift) with 5 floors. I would recommend staying on the 4th or 5th floors as the noise could be intolerable during the afternoon/evening from the street below (if your rooms are situated over the street). The rooms are quite nice and spacious and clean but are a little dated, there's enough space for 2 to hang your clothes with 3 draws too, a safe is available for approx.; 22 euros which you get 10 back when you hand in your key on vacating. A small tv is provided and so is a fridge however, the fridge would cost you for the privilege as it is also a mini bar. The balcony was a fair size and looked over the shops and street, but you hardly see the sun until about 5 o'clock in March so it would be advisable to ask for a sea facing room, if you are unfortunate you may be placed in the middle overlooking other rooms. The maid service is everyday and the staff are really nice. The food is average to good with a good selection of hot and cold food and again the staff are really helpful (Breakfast 8-10, Lunch 1300-1500 and Dinner 19.30-21.30), our only gripe would be that, they allow other (NON- Residents) tourists (mainly elder Spanish holiday makers) to use the restaurant which could and can be annoying if there's no table for yourself so its best to get to the restaurant as it opens (we never heard of any issues as we were there on the dot every meal time, but you felt it could be a possibility). The drinks (on a plus side) in the bar are free if your A/C and that also means international brands too such as, J/D, Bells, Baileys, Smirnoff, Tia Maria and a few others (so check the drinks menu as some drinks are expensive if you slip up on what's free and what's not), be warned if you go with Saga you are limited to local drinks only. Jose (smaller of the 2 Jose's) the barman is really nice and friendly where as the others are a bit miserable but still are polite. The heated pool is small but ok for a dip and views from the small/limited sun loungers are lovely with the views over the sea and island (as well as a few apartment roof tops). On a negative note, the Avenida Apartments over the road have full access to the pool area and this can be a bit frustrating when you feel you should have priority being a Hotel guest. And, security was for us a little weak as anyone can seem to venture in and drink, on one occasion a mass of elderly Spanish tourists came in and used the restaurant and after made their way to the bar area and sat in ever seat available some with the odd coffee (lasting them 1 hour or 2) and some with NO drink, and hogged the whole bar area, which I thought was poor on many levels. The Hotel is in a great location with plenty of bars and shops the old town is a world away from the noisy party centre of the new town. The guests are a good mix of British and Spanish (more Spanish) with the average age of 60 years which is no issue as you don't get all the young ones getting drunk and loud and being annoying like you could in the new town so its a major plus point. The entertainment caters for the older end with bingo, dancing, line dancing, (lessons too, for free) and Jason who is the entertainments manager is very friendly and a really nice person who speaks several languages. We definitely would stay here again as there was many plus points to this Hotel than negatives ones.

Room Tip: Choose a balcony facing the sea on the 4th or 5th floor. Could be noisy from the street with rooms b...

We often use Saga for our holidays and the hotels are always very good and sometimes really excelent. That was until we went to the Avenida, it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and when I walked in the door the small foyer with a little desk made me wonder, the bedroom was small and poorly furnished, with a tiny 12 " TV stuck high up on the wall, The bathroom was also small and shabby, But the worst part was the food that was often uneatable. The soup was often cold and looked and tasted like gravy. All in all the Avenida was the worst hotel that I have ever been in on a Saga holiday.
