Ok, i was dissappointed , but only because it was marketed to me as a luxury fourstar hotel, at 4 star money.
If the description had said clean modern basic 3 star hotel i would have given it a higher rating
Better for business than holidaya

Ok forget the crappy no parking, not walking distance from anywhere location...

The foyer is nice, the staff are indifferent.

But imagine a a high rise travelodge and you will not be dissapointed.

I have stayed all around the world, know many local hotels so here is my take on the Grand Bali

Rooms expect 3 star travel lodge and mediocre canteen food, thats what you get
Location... Rubbish
Parking rubbish
Near public transport rubbish
All the Benidorm life is up the east end miles away or the quieter pretty la cala beach bay and restaurant miles away to the west

Arrive expecting a luxury four star hotel and you will be BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED

Room Tip: Go somewhere else check tripadvisor first, if you must stay get the upper 10 floors

Dear Sir/Madam:

We are very sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Any way, we would like to point that Gran Hotel Bali is and has always been a 4 star hotel, never 5.
We have always advertised that the hotel is in La Cala de Benidorm at the end of Poniente Beach.
All the surrounding area is public free parking and the hotel itself has a private garage to pay locally.
There are 2 public buses which take you directly to the center of the town every 10 min.

Many thanks for your comments.

When we booked this and told those who asked we got mixed reviews about it from those who had never stayed there themselves. The hotel does have some average points but for the most part very good. The price at this time of year was the first great thing-3 nights half board for £58 each. The hotel is huge and impressive with a stylish spacious lobby and reception area. It looks like it has two restaurant areas but only one open in January and it was always packed. Lots of older Spanish people on holiday on all inclusive but even if you were paying the a bottle of rose was 7 or 8 euro in the restaurant. For those all inclusive you could put your name on your bottle for the next night which I thought was good. Food was plentiful and warm if not hot. But buffets are always like that. It was also pretty good. Staff were mixed in their approach, some helpful and friendly some not so. I did holiday Spanish before going so tried to speak to other guests but repeatedly got looked over like dirt. I was not impressed by the army of older ignorant Spanish folk. Outside the hotel looks impressive with 3 pools. Just a pity none were open as temperatures are like summer to those from colder climes. Rooms were spacious and nice bathrooms though no tea or coffee and our air con and fridge were worth very little. There were lots of lifts but they are small and struggle to service so many floors. Access to jacuzzi and sauna was 7 euro for an hour. We didn't use it though so I can't comment. The hotel has 2 buses running into town and is just up the street from Poniente beach. The walk into new town is 3 miles, a bit shorter to old town and it is stunning. We did it everyday and got a bus back. There's a supermarket seconds away and a couple of cafe bars but most are closed in January. Even so we didn't lack for places for food, coffee, drink or entertainment. For the most part we really liked this hotel and would come here again off season for the great value. Some things could be better from a 4 star but maybe more effort is put in over the busier months. Regardless of season the hotel was busy and that says a lot for it.

Hotel staff more than helpful in all areas. My husband mentioned when we booked in at reception that it was my birthday and without hesitation, we were given complimentary wifi for our room as a present for me, which was awfully nice and totally unexpected. There is free wifi in reception and a nominal fee of about a euro a day for your room.
The location is quiet, which is what we wanted and the food and drinks were absolutely fine for all inclusive.
You do queue at the end of the bar if all inclusive, but when not busy the staff serve you hot drinks in china cups and saucers without asking. The staff there were attentive and if they were serving another guest, would acknowledge your prescence, I was never ignored in anyway.
We stayed in January and I imagine when its busy in high season, service could be more stressed, so the answer is, treat the staff as you would like to be treated, check out its location and if you want to go to a party thats being raided by the riot squad, then this place is not for you , the location is quiet. If you want service that is more instant, then go in the quieter season, choose your timing well. this is a big hotel, so I envisage that the wait in higher season to be served will be delayed. Calm down! Wait! you will get served eventually!
We stayed on the 34th floor with a magnificent sea view. the maid service is daily and unobtrusive. The rooms are clean and adequate.
We would return again and can understand why many people return and cannot understand some of the reviews on this hotel, where others say it does not come up to scratch.
In closing I would like to say how SMART the reception staff are. Their Mustard coloured jackets and black complimentary accessories look very professional.
So thank you for a really lovely time Gran Hotel Bali.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and the staff, facilities etc. I have seen some rather negative reviews here but I would suggest they were written by people who forgot they were in a different country and think everything should work the same as it does in the UK. The location is fine but not near the beach so a 10 minute walk in required if you want the beach. The beach itself is large and clean with shops and cafes just a stones throw away. Lifeguards are on duty. The Hotel Bali is a hub for the local buses so its great to walk out the front door and get on a bus to the old town, new town and Alicante airport. Taxis are always waiting outside as well. Both bus drivers and taxi drivers are polite and helpful and seem to enjoy sign language communications if they can't speak English! Upon arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming and our room was perfect, the bathroom having two showers and bidet as well as the usual facilities. Complimentary soaps, gels, combs and shower caps were provided, the towels change daily if you threw the used ones in the bath and the bed linen change every other day. There was no kettle provided but a quick call to reception made one appear like magic, along with cups and saucers.(free of charge) There is a supermarket very close where you can get fresh milk so take your favourite tea bags, use the free bottled water from the restaurant and you have a cuppa just like home. The restaurants are large, catering for 700 - 800 usually and much more when the hotel is full and there is a wide choice of food available from the buffets. It is Spain so its no good you thinking you'll get English food! What is provided is fresh, well cooked and presented well, some of it being cooked in front of you. I doubt if anyone gets a tummy bug from the food provided, it really is that good. The rooms and hotel are maintained spotless and there are loads of lifts so you'll never wait long for one. There is a safe in the room and it's worth paying a little extra to use it for peace of mind. Departure was as efficient as the arrival and looking back I can't think of anything to have a moan about. We are a couple in our sixties but if you are a couple with young children you will be absolutely fine, childrens' facilities are available including high chairs in the restaurants. There is plenty of space for everyone and there is usually some sort of modest entertainment each night in either the Spanish music bar or the English music bar. We would return here again as it suited us just fine.

Room Tip: If you would like a kettle in the room just ask at reception and it will be provided quickly and fre...
