We stayed at Hotel Eslava for one night during our 10-day trip around northern Spain in May 2008. Our room was very basic but clean. The best thing about it was the beautiful view from the window. The worst thing was that we were right next to the elevator - there were constant mechanical noises and voices beginning in the early hours of the morning. Hotel Eslava is located right on the edge of the old town, so it's perfect for exploring. But ask for a room away from the elevator!

I needed to cancel my reservation. The hotel answered quick and correct. So, excellent reaction.

The Hotel Eslava (not to be confused with the nearby Pension Eslava) is a real find: inexpensive, comfortable, clean, very well located, and with pleasant staff and generous breakfasts.

It is right on the edge of the historic part of Pamplona. The views from my room were beautiful.

The rooms are smallish but perfectly adequate, with comfortable beds, sparkling modern bathrooms, and all the basic comforts.

I had a family emergency while there and had to spend a bunch of time on the "guest computer" in the lobby, changing my travel arrangements. The front desk staff were very considerate and helpful with my travel changes and with any other information needs. During my stay, the front desk person on during days spoke English, everyone else was non-English-speaking.

I will definitely return to the Eslava and would recommend it to Tripadvisor members.

This review is for Hotel Eslava (I understand "Residencia Eslava" to be a hostel on another street nearby). We spent 7 nights here at the end of September 2006. We got off the train in Pamplona without knowing where we would stay, took a bus to the Old Town and asked around for advice. We ended up here, it's in a great location on the edge of the old part of town, near beautiful parks, with easy walking access to all historic sites, and on a leafy plaza which gives nice views from the top of the medieval wall across part of the city to the hills to the north. The room was fairly spartan but comfortable, the only problem with a room overlooking the plaza was the all-night carousing of youth on Friday and Saturday nights which penetrated our shuttered windows. The staff at the 24-hour desk were efficient and polite and seem to know English (although we spoke Spanish), the lobby is well stocked with tourist brochures and maps of the city and region. We rented a car for a few days and saw lots of Navarre and the Basque coast (no non-resident parking allowed in the area of the hotel, however, and parking all around Pamplona is hard to come by). The breakfast is not included in the price, very plain but enjoyable. Internet access (one computer) in the lobby cost 0.05 euros per minute, which is monitored by the staff at the front desk. All in all a basic, very clean, all-non-smoking hotel in a great location, would love to go back to Pamplona anytime except for the running of the bulls! Enjoyed walking sections of the Camino de Santiago which runs right through the old town.
