My wife and I and another couple stayed for 4 nights during San Fermin in 2007. Having been to the festival before and wanting to stay in the heart of the action, we booked this hotel primarilly for its location.
Check in was slow, but the hotel reception desk is small, and the lobby was a mad house because of San Fermin, so I cannot fault them in any way. Although they were overwhelmed, it was service with a smile.
The hotel itself is old and tired. The bed was hard, the linens torn, the room and bath were tiny. There is no view at all. The walls are wafer thin, so much so that my wife and I were seranaded by 3 guys and their hooker all evening one night. Our fare included a buffet breakfast, which was average but acceptable.
But during San Fermin, none of this matters. The location is incredible. The staff is festive. The bar was always busy. Security was present but not intrusive.
If I was coming to Pamplona on business, I would never stay here. But during San Fermin, I'd return, and bring ear plugs. As for sleep? It's San Fermin! You can sleep when its over!
