After having spoken to a resident who recommended this restaurant I booked a table for 6 for Sunday lunch. I was aware that it was a buffet lunch and the reviews indicated that it was worth the visit.
We were all very disappointed.
The starters were ok - prawns, salad, nachos, fresh whitebait, smoked salmon, salad...all ok but nothing that would make you go "wow".
The mains - frankly "poor" does not even come close to describing them. Luke warm at best were the hot foods. There was chicken breast in gravy, salmon (overcooked), paella (revolting and overdone - you had to scrape the rice off the sides and the bottom), not roasted roast potatoes, veggies made up off carrots, courgette and cauliflower. There was a spaghetti bolognaise there for children.
The desserts included tiramisu (a cream mush in this case), chocolate tart, fresh fruit, ice cream, the odd profiterole, cupcake etc. It sounds like it should have been special but it really wasn't.
Champagne was included in the bill(all received a glass if you wanted one).
We were a party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 children. After complaining about the quality of food the bill was reduced from about €50 a head!!!!!!! to €185 in total. A lot of money for a poor lunch that we had so looked forward too.
There are few good restaurants in this resort and all are expensive sadly. I would recommend La Finca in a heartbeat. Amapola I would not touch again. Its a shame as we had had all saved our appetite for this lunch.
