“Fine dining experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Chiky was a welcome find after a long day. We sat outside but if I were to go back I would opt to sit inside. It is a big restaurant that had a nice atmosphere...live piano player Friday and Saturday nights. They make an amazing gin cocktail at your table and their goat cheese topped with caramelized onions on the tapas menu was delicious. Our party ordered the suckling pig, roast chicken and roast lamb entrees and they all were very good. It is a little pricey but if you want a nice dining atmosphere and good food it is well worth it.

“More Fawlty Towers than Chiky”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We had a terrible experience here last night. The only positive is that the meals are freshly made because we had to wait for our paella as it had been given to another table. The bread was inedible and at least a day old. The waiter tripped on my chair at one point and did not react at all. I'm not sure if he was drunk or just vague. By the time our meal finally arrived all the tables around had been packed up so we sat there like an island. They took a long time to bring the bill, so we went inside. The first bill was wrong so the manager walked out and left it to "Polly" to sort out. The second bill was wrong; the third looked ok, but naturally one is charged for the bread and olives. There was definitely no tip left.
The sandwich board says Chiky but the sign above the restaurant says Restaurante Asador so beware of imitations. Also check the bill against the menu. There's opportunities to overcharge here.

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

Thank goodness we hadn't read prior reviews before coming here! We sat outside around the corner (c/ Coloreros 3, but the same restaurant as at c/ Mayor 4) and had excellent grilled vegatables and seafood paella, prepared fresh after we had ordered it (i.e., it was not sitting around waiting for a customer), along with a very good 1/2-bottle of Rioja. The cost was about 70 Euros for the two of us and they gave us complementary liqueur at the end of the meal. Service was friendly and very good. We are going back this evening.

“dissapointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

years ago (many years ago) this was a good restaurant and i had good meat there. things have changed, and now became a tourist trap in central madrid. prices are not cheap for what they serve you, one person can easily go over 40 euros without wine.

the roasted lamb was very poor; same was the baked sea bream.

the service is polite and able to speak english forthose who do not speak spanish.

i do not recommend this place.

“Terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

The worst service and rudest staff I have ever seen in Madrid. In addition, the food is overpriced. Very bad cost-quality ratio; it is the typical expensive restaurant for unaware tourists. I would not recommend this place at all.
