“Non tapas, local Spanish restaurant. Delicious and friendly...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Delicious cuisine in the middle of many touristic restaurants. This one is a real Spanish restaurant serving non tapas Spanish local food. Frequented and filled with Spanish people, mostly families. You can understand its famosity from the pictures in the walls of many notable people came and eat here. I ate Madrid style tripes. It was very good, also very fat, normally. You can try Asturias style beans or other local dishes. It seems like a very small restaurant when you look from outside, but the real restaurant is on the lower floor and is quite big. However a reservation will be better. I suggest this restaurant to those who are enough with tapas and seek non tapas flavors in Madrid.

“Try the tapas and cider”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013 via mobile

The restaurant was not open but we enjoyed some tapas in the bar section. It had a great vibe filled with locals catching up and watching the football. Tried the local cider here which was great. Interesting how the barman rang the bell each time he received a tip.

“Delicious rustic food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

We arrived early for dinner, around 8:30, and we're the first ones in the basement dining room. We ordered a wonderful and reasonably priced bottle of wine. The bread and "cheese" spread were so good we had to pace ourselves so we would have room for dinner. For a starter, we had fava beans and pork which we devoured. For main courses we had cider baked hake and a leg of lamb. Both which were outstanding. The portions are huge so we didn't get to try dessert. Our waiter brought us a unique digestif liquor which was a perfect ending to the meal.
The dining room was filling up rapidly by the time we finished dinner. The total cost was 75 euros.

“Superb food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

We travel to Madrid quite often. We always stop in 'El Neru'. The stuff is super friendly, tapas are delicious and good value. We have been quite a few times having dinner, the food is superb, I will recommend the Queso Cabrales (cheese), Cochinillo (Sucking Pig) and the Pierna de cordero (Lam’s leg). Excellent selection of wines. You will not be disappointed.
