“Not pretentious and very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

If you are Jack Lemmon, Julia Roberts, Marc Gasol, Richard Gere, George Clooney or any other ob dozens of top celebrities, you don't need to read this - you've been there and your photo with the owner hangs on the wall.
If you are not, try it. You won't get a photo, but you will get good, honest food. As strange as it might sound - french fries with eggs are great. So is the rest of the food. Nothing spectacular or very inventive, but many times this is exactly what one wants.

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We were looking for a non-touristy restaurant with real Spanish food and that's what we found at El Lando. We arrived around 10 pm on a Friday and the place was packed with a sophisticated local crowd. Even though the staff spoke little English they were very welcoming and the service was terrific. Everything was delicious but standouts were the tomato salad, heavenly grilled asparagus, and berberechos. There's nothing gimmicky here, just impeccably fresh food, prepared exquisitely, in a charming atmosphere. It was the one memorable meal we had in Madrid.

“There is a reason some places are famous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012 via mobile

A local recommended this restaurant. You wouldn't think it would be so quaint, personal and superb. The pictures on the walls of the stairwell could rival Carnegie Deli's. Wine great. Food amazing. Service unbelievable. Even with it's obvious fame (I had never heard of it) it keeps it's local feel. Delicious warm friendly. Highly recommend

“A restaurant with buzz”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Walked in to a semi empty restaurant at 9:30 P. M. The table had a platter of tomatoes a platter of thinly sliced ham and a basket of bread. They served very generous drinks. Within a half hour the restaurant was full of very attractive people and buzzing. We had an excellent dinner and evening.
