“Vegetables, at long last!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

This may not be a world-class vegetarian restaurant, but it is good especially given that vegetables are hard to come by on menus in Madrid. We ordered off the fixed price menu for lunch. The cabbage and cashew salad was very good. The stuffed roasted potato was fine but I don't think I would get it again. I don't think the potato was roasted as it was advertised. The tinto de verrano is great - I recommend it highly. The place is clean and you can look out on the plaza.

“OK food available early in the evening”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

The strong point of this vegetarian restaurant is that it generally opens much earlier than other Madrid restaurants. The menu is varied, but the dishes don't have much flair compared to almost anywhere else you might eat in Madrid. Staff (all non-Spanish) is courteous but not especially helpful with menu suggestions.
In general, you can get much more interesting vegetarian fare at the numerous tapas bars that abound in Madrid and serve from late afternoon into the early evening.

“Really disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We had read a good review in our guidebook and so ventured to this restaurant.

The first clue was that it was almost empty when we arrived. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was an English menu, but then spotted (with my limited Spanish) that there were mistakes throughout (the sweet potato soup was in reality artichoke).

We ordered a glass of Rioja, which (oddly) was poured into glass beakers rather than wine glasses.

We then ordered from the Menu of the Day. My husband ordered the courgette carpaccio and we were surprised when he received a large bland plate of thickly sliced courgette with limited dressing- not exactly carpaccio.

Unfortunately the main course was not bland. We both ordered mushroom crepes with two sauces. The crepes were in fact American pancakes and were far too thick to be filled with the mushroom filling. The cheese sauce was gloopy, but edible. We never identified what the other sauce was - it was sweet, brown and contained sesame seeds. It was utterly revolting and I left more than half of my main course.

We did not stay for dessert or coffee, but were charged 50 Euros for a very disappointing meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant and actually found that local fast food outlets had vegetarian options for far less than 50 Euros.

“Lots of food but not too interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We went there on the first night. The servings was large, but a bit average. The dessert was especially disappointing. I would recommend not having the dessert and this place would be OK.

“A so-called vegetarian better to avoid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

We went there with our daughters and took four different sort of main courses: lasagna, cuban brown rice, canneloni, mushrooms and tofu. The quantity is big but the quality is very poor. Not a single thing tasty or convincing. Most of the dishes are pre-pared, nothing really home made or organic. Even the bread is poor and the olives -in a country like Espana - are simply horrible. If you are fed up with tapas and heavy tortillas, you would return to it with pleasure the next day after such a bad culinarian experience.
