“Good hotel with great value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The hotel is located in the middle of everything - 10mins from Puerta del sol ; 5mins to Gran Via and very close to the clubbing and pubs area. Still the hotel is located in a quiet area were you can sleep without any sound. Rooms were spacious and clean.. We didn't try the breakfast or any of the restaurants downstairs so I cannot comment. Other than this the hotel was perfect

Gran Legazpi can be summarised as follows: good location in Chueca near the major tourist attractions, just off Gran Via. It is close to a Metro station and 10 minutes walk to Puerta del Sol. There is a Starbucks right outside the hotel entrance (for those of you who need their Americana) and a small grocery store just down the road. There are numerous tapas bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The area did feel a little seedy, especially at night, but I never felt unsafe and I thought it gave the area character. Once you walk out onto Gran Via you are in another district anyway.
My room was huge, and had been adapted for disabled guests. The bathroom alone was larger than some hotel rooms I stayed at elsewhere in Spain! The room was clean and comfortable, with French doors opening out onto 2 balconies (corner room).
The only negative about this hotel (and the only reason I didn't give it 5 dots) is the amount of traffic noise early in the morning with garbage trucks picking up skips.
I found the reception staff helpful, although they do seem to spend an awful lot of time talking amongst themselves!

Dear guest,

Thank you for spend part of your time to share your opinion about the hotel with all the travellers in Tripadvisor. Thank you for the description of the room, it is as you write.

The hotel is located in Chueca neighbourhood; this is the trendy area of the city. It is full of tapas bars, restaurants, coffee, shops… It is true that if you go to Gran Via is another district, this why Chueca is different and there is only one.

The hotel location is usually very quiet but we can not forget that we are on the centre of a big City.

Best regards

This hotel is in a great location in Chueca. It's a really buzzy location, but this made our 2nd floor, exterior room noisy on Friday to Sunday nights. Our friend had an interior room with no noise problems. The room was spacious and pleasant, but the wifi didn't really work. Free wifi is a selling point for us, so to have it mostly non-functional was annoying. The breakfast was adequate.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much to share your experience in our hotel with all the travellers in Tripadvisor.
During your stay in Madrid, the Gay Pride Festival was held throughout the Centre of the city.

This festival attracts to more than 1,000,000 people with all it entails. Sorry for the noise you had suffered, but if you would tell us we would have changed your room to a room inside, they are calmer.

It is true that the Wifi signal did not work well during that weekend for reasons unrelated to the hotel. Anyway, there is the possibility of connecting to the LAN cable and we can leave you an Ipad for free.

We are very sorry because the hotel didn’t cover your expectation; I hope that in your next visit you will give us the opportunity to change your opinion about us.

Best regards

We stayed here for four night in June 2012 on holiday while travelling around Spain. The hotel is quite centrally located, about 5 minutes walk from Gran Via metro station. It's about 15 minutes walk to the Retiro park and the Prado museum, and the Chueca district is nearby, with lots of bars and restaurants.

The hotel itself is clean and fairly modern. Check-in was smooth. We had a room on the fourth floor which was on the small side but comfortable and clean. The windows (french doors) opened onto a small juliet balcony. The bathroom was quite big, clean and had a good shower. We slept well and the beds were comfortable. The reception desk was helpful and friendly throughout, and spoke good English. We didn't eat in the restaurant, so can't comment on that.

All in all, a comfortable stay and reasonable value for money, and would stay here again - recommended.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel team is really very willing to help, the guy at the reception even helped me to book the railway tickets to Toledo! The location is also very good - it is very near to the central area and at the heart place of LGBT area, but relatively quiet. The restaurant at the ground floor is quite good, I suggest you to give a try. I stayed in their superior room, the facilities are not bad, despite the small TV set.

Room Tip: Room 408 (superior room) is OK

I stayed here for 2 nights this week as I wanted to be near the Prado and other galleries. This excellent hotel is within 10 minutes walk of all the major cultutal attractions, as well as an easy walk to the bars, shops and restaurants of different districts. It is reasonably priced and a very good standard, with a lovely breakfast. I would recomment this for visitors to Madrid. I was travelling alone and felt very safe.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

My girlfriend and I spent last week in Madrid and reckon we stumbled upon an absolute gem of a hotel. Clean, very well situated, extremely friendly and helpful staff who fortunately for us spoke English and excellent food to top it off. Modern decor in the rooms makes you feel right at home as well as the well stocked bathrooms. My only criticism would be the beds weren't particularly comfortable but we were so tired from all the sightseeing and sangria that it wasn't that much of a problem! Will definitely stay here again when we return to Madrid and would strongly advise others to do the same.
