“A lovely stay in Madrid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Great centrally located hotel. Plus points have a room with jacuzzi and terrace (just ask to turn the temperature up if its winter months) . Modern and fresh. My friend rated the mojitos. Champagne by the glass 7euros and wine 3euros not bad for a city hotel. Wifi good Downside breakfast was limited. We also had no problem with noise.

Other things we did Segway tour of Madrid was excellent. Tapas on the outside terrace at the top of Cortes ingles Food generally is excellent and very cheap. We also ate at diverox (2 michelin stars) and food was amazing. Strange at times but totally unforgettable. Ps use the spa at occidental Miguel Angelo absolutely fantastic.

Location excellent, very clean, we were out all day so really did not spend much time in the hotel,Tapas bar across road to the right, Mercado de la reina excellent.
Used airport express, and got off at 2nd stop, Ciebles, and street sign points in direction of Gran Via, 5 mins straight walk to hotel, brilliant. Tour bus stop near hotel, get on bus early to sit upstairs.

Room Tip: If traffic bothers you ask for room at the back, we had 5th floor, ear plugs made sure I slept.

Great location, great value, great lounge/ bar area. Try to get a room in the higher floors! Room 201 is too close to the street and very noisy and right by the lighted sign all night long!!! Balcony is great, but cannot keep doors open...too noisy! Maybe if I booked directly thru hotel I would have gotten a better room....unfortunately I booked thru Expedia.....what a disappointment!!
The bed is very comfortable and room is great...higher up would definitely be helpful! The climate control is regulated by hotel, not individual rooms...so too hot for me! If I need to keep my windows closed, at least let me regulate the temp in the room!!

Room Tip: Higher floors definitely

First of all, location is just perfect. Prado Museum, Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Buen Retiro park are all within walking distance. A lot of great restaurants and bar around the hotel, while we can also give good recommendation for the in house restaurant, sitting there with a glass of wine while watching the hustle and bustle of Gran Via is also an experience not to be missed. I love the design of this hotel, they smartly blend this quaint heritage building with a smart and chic modern design. We stayed in a room with balcony overlooking Gran Via, where noise can be a bit of a problem during Friday night after the late night party I guess. The room itself is very comfortable, spacious and smartly decorated with a red painted wall and poem written there which we found very modern and pleasing to the eyes. Comfortable bed and sofa, where we found very difficult to detach yourself from once you have comfortably lounge yourself into. Bathroom is equally roomy, with 2 separate wash which is quite a luxury for European hotel. Staffs are friendly and very helpful, ready to assist you to explore pretty Madrid. For the price we paid, this is absolutely a very good deal and highly recommended for your next visit to Madrid.

Room Tip: Room with balcony overlooking Gran Via, though a bit noisy sometimes but should not overshadow the e...

The standard rooms are very well appointed.
Staff were very helpful.
Top tip - Breakfast is ?18 which is a little expensive, but essential if you want to eat and run in the morning. If you are a leisurely riser, there are many brunch places within 2 blocks, like Diurno. They pretty much all open at 10am

We stayed in a Superior Room facing Calle de Clavel on the 5th floor. The room was well appointed and spacious, no complaints in terms of comfort. We heard a lot of street noise Friday and Saturday late into the night, but this is Madrid after all, and earplugs did the trick. The streets were much quieter on Sunday/Monday. Staff's English was a bit limited, but they were always friendly and always found the answer. Reliable wifi at the hotel. Good bath products and bathrobe and slippers.

Breakfast was great - good coffee, selection of pastries and lots of fresh fruit. Soy milk available for your muselix too. Rooftop bar a bit overpriced, but nice atmosphere.

I'd stay here again - good rate, and close to my favourite neighbourhood for shopping: Chueca.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs

We stayed at this hotel for a few days in October. The hotel location is perfect; on the Gran Via with bars and restaurants very close, and only 10 mins walk from the Prado museum and other attractions. We had a room with a large balcony overlooking the Gran Via, and did not have any problems with noise. Staff seemed friendly and efficient (although their uniform of grey jumper with royal-blue bowties should be a crime against fashion!). Our room came with wifi, a double shower, double basin, and even two TVs, which could be handy when arguing about which channel to watch. We tried the restaurant, which offered decent cuisine, but the Mercado de la Reina eatery across the road offers tapas, meals and a wide range of gins, so gets my vote as a better place to eat and drink. The roof terrace seemed to be closed or mostly unavailable when we tried; not surprising given the rainy weather. All in all though, a great place to stay and would come back again.

A handy tip for those wanting to visit the Prado museum; book your tickets online and save yourself queuing to buy tickets there; you can print your tickets at the reception desk downstairs.

Room Tip: Good views of the Gran Via from those rooms overlooking it.
