“In the heart of Madrid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Hotel location was key. It was right in the middle of the main shopping areas and was an easy walk to Puerta del Sol. I was travelling alone and felt very safe. The rooms are nice and fairly large - mine had a sitting area and a large double sink bathroom with tub and separate shower. Room was modern, but no so modern that it overwhelmed the old world architecture of the building itself. I had no problem getting taxis when needed right out front. I really liked the hotel and would stay there again next time I go to Madrid.

The room I had was very spacious with huge windows overlooking a side street off Gran Via. The room was very contemporary and true to Spain overall almost, arty.

The hotel check-in area right at the entrance, was in a layout almost like express in and out vs a lobby setting with lounges, which is very suitable if you are after no fuss speedy in and out. There are 3-4 steps that you need to climb (with luggage) to the lift area.

I found the location to be very convenient for me, coming in by train to Atocha rail station with a very direct and short taxi ride to the hotel. Similarly, leaving by train from Chamartin rail station, it was a direct route by taxi maybe 5 mins longer then from Atocha to hotel.

There were several bus options outside the hotel to get around locally, but otherwise walking to any main sights or shopping was anywhere from 5-30mins. Along the way you will see beautiful architecture and quaint streets so you won't even notice the 30min walk.

Would definately consider this hotel again in future.

I stayed at Hotel de las Letras in May and was really happy with our stay.

The location is very central and perfect for getting about town and the staff were very helpful.

The highlight was certainly the rooftop. Being May, it was the perfect temperature for sitting outside and enjoying the sun. The rooftop has a great bar and we spent a couple of afternoons relaxing there and enjoying the local wines!

The rooms were fairly basic and ours particularly was quite dark. The bed was comfortable, though, and the rooms had everything that we needed.

I'd really recommend staying there - particularly for the location and rooftop.

This was our first trip to Madrid and I booked this hotel without reading any reviews.
I have to say that this hotel was perfect, the staff were all really friendly and helpful with any queries that we had.
The rooms were very quiet and very clean.
Breakfasts were nice, and the staff were always busy replenishing items. The roof bar is a very nice place to relax and unwind with views of the city.

When we go back to Madrid I won't be looking for any other hotel.

Room Tip: We had an upgraded room with an outside Jacuzzi, this was wonderful to relax in after a day of sight...

Have just returned from a 9 night stay at this fantastic hotel. This is my 4th time in Madrid and this is the best hotel I've stayed in yet. We arrived and were promptly checked in by an extremely helpful and polite young man. We were given a room on the 5th floor and on entering were really delighted to see we had one of the rooms with it's own terrace and 2 sun loungers. The bathroom was huge and had 2 sinks ( which was great as it was myself and my daughter sharing the room). As it was so hot we spent quite a few afternoons relaxing on our terrace. Breakfast was also included and again couldn't be faulted. The staff again were really polite and friendly. In fact every member of staff we encountered couldn't be faulted. Our room was spotless and the beds really comfy. My daughter will be working in Madrid this year so when my husband and I visit I will be booking Hotel de las Letras. ( Hopefully with the terrace again!!)

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor and with a bit of luck you'll get a terrace or balcony

The reception staff do their very best to get you into your room as soon as possible after you arrive, showing a complete understanding of the jet-lagged traveler's needs. Great rooms with fun decorations throughout the hotel. So pleased we stayed there. Beautiful churches nearby...loved attending Mass down the street at the Oratorio del Caballero de Gracia, a gem in the heart of the city.

Comfortable & charming boutique hotel with an ideal/centralized location for travelers seeking major tourist spots in Madrid. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is very attentive. The only down side is that the hotel is on a very busy street so if you stay on the Gran Via side, it is noisy when your windows are open however noise is not an issue when the windows are shut. Rooftop bar is a nice escape after a long day of walking in the intense Madrid sun. Best metro stop is Sevilla. Great choice if you don't mind being on a busy street.
