“Great Hotel in the heart of Madrid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Lovely hotel, bang slap in the centre and close to all the tourist attractions like the Opera, the Grand Palace etc. the staff are friendly and efficient, the rooms are stylish and uncluttered and the breakfasts are great. Don't know how expensive as I wasn't paying but it's got to be worth it.

Room Tip: Obviously the higher up you are the further away from the traffic

This hotel is truly excellent. The location is as about as central as it gets, and the staff are super helpful. The room and bathroom we had were both large, clean and well decorated, while the bar downstairs was a excellent spot for a nightcap or pre-dinner cocktail. Only issues were with the breakfast choices, which were a bit limiting, and also there is no longer a hot tub on the terrace as the website shows (there is a bar here now). But these are minor issues - if we ever go back to Madrid we will, without question, stay here again.

My wife and I spent three nights here at the start of a multi-hotel visit to Spain, and thoroughly enjoyed our room. We stayed in the suite duplex, a two-story offering with ample sitting space, bath, and two terraces downstairs, and a marvelous bedroom upstairs in a tower that has windows with beautiful views on all sides -- extremely romantic. Staff were most welcoming and helpful, and the location is a short walk from many museums, restaurants, park, and botanical gardens. Minor downsides: This hotel is on the very busy Grand Via, so be prepared to be awakened at night by ambulance and police sirens, and breakfast is a bit chaotic in arrangement and could use another Nespresso machine or two. But those downsides are truly minor given all the pluses of this fine establishment. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Consider splurging on the suite duplex, an extremely welcoming space at the end of the day.

We booked Hotel de las Letras on a recommendation but was very disappointed. My fiancé had booked the hotel for my birthday & emailed twice before our arrival to ask for a nice room as it was my birthday on our arrival date 4th May 2013. When we checked in that evening he asked if they had received the email as he didn't receive a reply the rude lady on reception confirmed she had received the email & that was end of conversation in fact I think she must have put us in the worse room in the hotel room 110, the first floor on the main busy road so needless to say we had no sleep & the following morning there was 1000's of cheering people could be heard outside which looked like a charity run for breast cancer. We went to reception & asked if we could be moved to a quieter room & if possible one with a terrace but had to revisit reception a few times that day to keep enquiring. We did get moved eventually to room 511 which was a lot quieter but no terrace. The hotel rooms were clean but basic but a couple of the staff especially the lady that checked us in was very rude & based on her bad attitude we didn't enjoy the stay

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 110 unless you enjoy busy traffic & sirens gong all night

Stayed here May 10-13. Location was fantastic, very central and bustling. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, tapas bars and museums. The rooms were small but charming and had everything you needed. Clean, safe and great staff.

When six men travel to Madrid to celebrate someone's birthday it is predictable that at least one of them will find flaws in the hotel or will at least have undelivered expectations. However, Hotel de las Letras not only met the demands of my pesky friends but exceeded them by 100%. I hadn't been so satisfied with a hotel in a long time and considering the rates, you can be sure you get a lot more than you pay for. The decoration is minimal but everything is put together with great taste The fact that rooms have copies of Esquire you can tell that the clientele this hotel attracts is of a certain kind. Most walls have poems from well-renowned authors which will be a plus for those romantics. The hotel has free wifi and because its location near Chueca it allows for easy interaction with like-minded gentlemen in the area. I totally recommend paying a bit more and get the suite with the outdoor jacuzzi. It makes it very tempting to postpone sightseeing to instead stay in the hotel enjoying the sun with a glass of bubbles. I'm definitely coming again soon.

We stayed four nights in a Superior room at Hotel de las Letras on Gran Via. Excellent location, walking distance to Old Madrid and Bourbon Madrid. Very comfortable room, we were at rear so did not have Gran Via noise. A few late night revellers going by were really the only distraction as Puerta de Sol is not far away. Room was on 5th floor. Spacious and immaculate. Lovely lobby bar, breakfast pricy but only ate there one morning.
