I have just returned from a trip to Spain. I spent 3 days in Madrid and we stayed at the Hostal Acapulco. I was expecting the worse after seeing the pictures on the internet. I was expecting to take one look and finding another place to stay. To my surprise and as stated in other reviews, it was very clean. I had a nice window view to the street below. The parking garage is located at the end of the street, very convenient and as stated it was within walking distance to shoping, restaurants, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Marco at the front desk was a doll and very helpful. He booked a City Tour for us and we were about to miss the bus and he told me we could pay when we returned or at check out. On another occassion we were going sightseeing and the Flamenco show was not yet opened to make reservation for that night's show and Marco made the reservations for us.
Graffitti is all over Madrid. However, on the day we were leaving, city workers were spray washing the writings off the building.
If you want a clean place to bath and sleep because you won't be spending alott of time at a hotel, and need to spend your money on other things besides a sleeping quarters, this is a good, clean, friendly place.
