“It is a nice hostel, but the private rooms need some work”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Couple, late 30's/early 40's, stayed in a private room. Even though we did not enjoy staying here, it is still a nice hostel. I would say it's a contemporarily designed youth hostel but not a boutique hostel.
The good - newer, clean, good location, ok beds (a little firm), good AC with individual room control (although we had to ask the desk to reactivate for our room one day), and lots of hot water. For younger or solo travelers, they organize daily tapas or bar crawls which is nice for socializing.
The bad - We've stayed in boutique hostels before but had issue with the private room design. Biggest complaint is that the water is all on timer push buttons - in both the sink and shower! This is an energy efficient hostel, so I get what they are going for, but not being able to take a relaxing shower was too much. The bathroom configuration in the private room was designed for a dorm; the sink was in the bedroom waking the other person at night. No bath mat so water from the shower gets all over the floor. There was no closet or wardrobe to hang clothes, only a few wall hooks. There is a very large flatscreen tv in the room but would have rather had a storage area - it became a clothes rack. Everything else negative is what you normally expect from a hostel - the pillows were not comfortable, thin/cheap toilet paper, poor quality linens, slamming doors from the dorms, etc.

Dear Guest,
First of all we want to apologize if your stay with us did not fulfilled your expectations. We are a brand new hostel and still have to improve thanks to the suggestions of the guests. I would like also to point out some of your suggestions:

We consider our hostel as a urban hostel, ecologically efficient, not a boutique hostel. Our matresses are new and 100% hypoallergenic and viscolastic, the pillows are new (less than 6 month). Bed linen and nordic covers are also new.

In the bathroom we decided to separate the sink, shower and wc, in order to have the possibility to be used at the same time for two people. The water system has an auto-stop regulation in order to save water and time and most of the guest appreciate this. And as you said we have 24hours hot water.

Air conditioning system is alse efficient as it stops if the windows are open, and as you said is individually controled.

The toilet paper is scottex brand.

We hope you could visit us again, and have a plesant stay with us.

Compared to many hostels I've seen this is a nice place. Great location, modern, clean and the staff are friendly. Lockers with keys for each bunk are provided.

The only not so great thing was that I had specifically booked a space in a female- only dorm and when I got there late at night they had put a man in the bunk opposite. I was only there for one night so it was not a major problem but I think if they offer single-sex dorms they should ensure that the dorms are actually as advertised.

Otherwise this place was ok and reasonable value for money.

First hostel of our interailing! what a great start, so clean and staff friendly. Rooms so nice, best duvet in a hostel! Roof top nice to chill out and socialise, with vending machines and kettle. Walking distance to other places and close to metro too, free walking tour and cheap social events!

This was an absolutely amazing youth hostel compared to others I have stayed. First off, it is BRAND NEW...so everything is very modern, cool, and clean for the most part. Secondly, the hostel organizes different events every night such as free sangria and drinking games, pub crawls, as well as walking tours during the day! It a great way to meet other backpackers and young travellers and the staff is SUPER friendly & helpful! There is plenty of communal seating space. Each bed has its own light and socket and locker - well thought out! It is also an eco-friendly hostel so the water in the showers and sinks doesn't stay on for long, and the lights in the hallways and outside are all motion censored!

Excellent funky, friendly, quiet and very CLEAN hostel!! However, we did stay in a private room so not sure if shared rooms are as nice and clean as ours! Design and decor was cool and the staff were very friendly and helpful! Highly recommend to all types of travellers!

I would definitely go back. Spent a total of 13 nights there recently in two stints. The first was perfect, the second stay was plagued by a faulty shower, door handle, lock on my locker. A tiny bit of maintenance and checking needed to make this place perfect. It is in a fantastic location, handy for all Madrid's central attractions, the trains and metro, and the bars of Chueca. The staff are really friendly. It's very clean and modern. There is plenty of communal seating space. Each bed has its own light and socket and locker - well thought out!

This is a smart decorated, crystal clean and amazingly located hostel. It is modern, casual and has a very original feel to it. Although is manly directed for backpackers, there are a couple of private rooms that might be a better option than a vast majority of Hotels. I stayed on room 16, it had a very comfy double bed, air conditioning, very good wifi, a big shower and decent extra space with a small coffee table and a couple of chairs. Again, this are things that you don't get on many Hotels. And specially not for this price.

The staff is very nice, and there are daily activities such as bike tours and even spanish lessons.

Theres a nice terrace where most of the partying takes place. For travelers looking forward to meeting new people that is a great option. The good news for the people who don't want to get into party is that, because the terrace is located on the fourth floor, you don't even notice what's happening up there.

There's also a lounge with puffs, a vending machine, a freezer and free to use printer.

The location is also flawless: very near to Sol and Plaza Mayor but away from all the noise. This is now my official place to stay in Madrid.
