“Thoroughly enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Elected not to have breakfast as we preferred to get out and about. Having now read some reviews this might have been a mistake...!!! Glass bar was very cool and the cocktails were great and not too expensive... Delivery was professional and understated without anything flashy. Wish we had used the restaurant sooner and avoided the very expensive mistake we made at a nearby "institution". Food in Urban very good and an interesting menu well executed. We felt our room was very well appointed and comfortable. Staff all very polite and helpful. Having visited in late October we missed out on rooftop activities incl pool as a bit chilly. The antiques and small Egyptian museum are a definite bonus and add immensely to the feel of the place.
Very handy location. All in all would definitely recommend

My wife and I recently stayed 2 nights at Urban to celebrate an anniversary. The hotel is only a 20 taxi ride from the airport and is conveniently situated between Madrid Old town (with a lot of the sights), The Prado art gallery (and Retiro Park) and Salamanca district for upmarket shopping and dining. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived we were offered a choice of 2 rooms (we opted for a courtyard facing room rather than a road facing room) and a discounted breakfast each morning if we paid in advance (do this as the breakfasts are very good!). The room was very clean and comfortable with a well stocked mini bar - we were also given a bottle of complimentary champagne by the GM - Thank you! The roof top bar is fantastic with a small pool that gets the sun until mid afternoon, sun loungers and and great views across the skyline - perfect for a sundowner (we did go to the nearby Me Hotel for a drink on their roof bar but it cost 15 euros each to get in, including a drink, and because it was early evening the place was v quiet - we preferred the Urban bar for a more intimate hangout rather than the touristy Me Bar. we did not eat at the hotel restaurant as we had had several recommendations of other restaurants from friends but the hotel restaurant was busy on both nights so it must be good. The glass bar in the foyer was smaller than I expected from the website video but was also busy. Overall a really good hotel and perfect for a short stay if you want to be walking distance to all the action but not in an overcrowded touristy area

I have so much good to say about this hotel.
First of all, I came in off an early int'l flight and they did not for a second give me a hard time about checking in way ahead of schedule. Granted, they gave me a room out of the way, but I didn't care. It was stylish, clean, with an amazing bathroom and plush amenities and a great bathroom.
The location is so great, you couldn't ask for anything better. Near everything - Prado, Gran Via, little plazas with good bars.
The breakfast was SO good, I mean SO good, and the staff who were working it were simply top notch.
And the room comes with a free glass of champagne! I mean, seriously, what more do you need when on vacation?

Impression of a 5* facility but in fact 2/3*. Service very poor especially at Breakfast! I've stayed in many 4/5* facilities around the would and this one is far below my expectations as a good hotel. Very poor service to value price, I imagine there is better value in this city!

I recently stayed two nights at the Urban Hotel in Madrid, Spain. I have nothing but the highest praise for the hotel, the staff and for its location in Madrid. It is a very modern hotel with cool accents and appointments. The roof top lounge/restaurant/pool area is a great place for an evening cocktail and the complimentary glass of champagne was a nice touch. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and attentive to my basic needs. I stayed in a duplex suite that was perhaps a bit small overall, but certainly was a lovely room with a very nice bathroom and comfortable king bed. My only complaint was that the room did not have a coffee/tea maker, which I believe every quality hotel should have. The breakfast buffet was a bit sparse but the made-to-order eggs were excellent. Lastly, the location is ideal- a short walk to the Retiro Park, Prado, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and other key Madrid attractions. I will return to Madrid and I will choose to stay again at the Urban.

It’s difficult to complain about this ultra modern fashion hotel. Nice place, nice design, very good service, comfort … but it lacks charm (to my taste).
I don’t know why, but I would have preferred to stay in a more traditional hotel (just steps away we had the Westin Palace and The Ritz). I guess is the romantic idea one develops about historic cities like Madrid.
Breakfast was extremely sophisticated, with options you don’t see very often and very well prepared.

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our trip to Spain last week. The hotel was fabulous, modern decor with unusual Asian and Egyptian art collection. Very Zen! It is very well-situated, small rooms but super comfortable beds and superlative washroom. Everything is within a five to fifteen minute walk, including the Prado, Plaza Major, Plaza Santa Ana, etc. The service was impeccable, the rooftop bar was cool. We would highly recommend this boutique hotel.
