Stayed at this hotel in March this year. I was very warm weather, but the hotel room was a little oasis. The interior to the hotel was very stylish and modern, the reception staff very helpful (especially when I got food poisoning from a dodgy chicken sandwich from one of the outside restaurants near the Palace- beware!).
The rooms are nice and cosy, some people might think dark, but they were lovely in the morning when you are recovering from too much fine food and wine!
The shower was fab! The bathroom was the best thing about the rooms!
On the whole, I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Madrid.
We couldn't have asked for a better hotel than the Vincci Centrum. A 5 min. walk from Puerta del Sol, everything from restaurants to sightseeing was within easy walking distance. We had a room with a king size bed, which took up most of the space in the room, but the room was well-appointed and quiet. The bathroom was excellent with a fantastic shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast in the Cafe Hontanares just around the corner. A real find is the Vinoteca Barbechera on the corner of the Calle Principe and the Calle del Prado, about a 10 min. walk from the hotel. Great place for wine and tapas. We took the public bus to Toledo and a train to El Escorial. The metro stop is a short walk from the hotel. I would stay here again andi highly recommend it.
Have just returned from 3 nights at the Vincci Centrum and would give this hotel 10 out of 10 for location. It's within an easy stroll to all of the main tourist destinations including the Royal Palaces (one end of town) and the art galleries (the other end).
However, the hotel interior itself lost them the full five stars. Having stayed at the Vincci Maritimo in Barcelona, I was a little bit disappointed with the size of the room. Perfectly adequate, but all seemed a little bit cramped. Also, we got a room looking out onto a brick wall, therefore needed to use the lights in the room the whole time as this made the room even more pokey. Also, going in November you'd expect the weather to be cooler (which is was - averaging around 10-12oC), but the heating in the hotel was turned up full blast all of the time, which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. Talking about uncomfortable sleeping arrangements, the pillows are fairly uncomfortable too - either too high, or too low. I couldn't get this right and ended up with a crick in my neck most of the time we were there!! On the upside though, the hotel is very modern and trendy, and spotlessly clean, with fantastic bathrooms (two sinks and an excellent shower) - and a nice lounge area downstairs for a chill out drink after a days sightseeing.
Don't bother with breakfast in the hotel. There are plenty of nice places within a close proximity of the hotel at a fraction of the cost - we ended up at Ducados Cafe each morning and had a very nice coffee with Croissants (with english speaking staff, although if you do try a bit of Spanish it goes a long way!). Another good (and close) place to eat on an evening (if you're not keen on tapas) is Pizza Nostrum, Pasta Nostrum. Amazing pizzas, and very reasonable.
Enjoy Madrid - it's an amazing City that I would definately visit again, and would probably stay at the Vincci due to the excellent location.
overall, the hotel was very tendy and well presented. our room was small and the dark interior made it feel smaller and it was not laid out well
cable was limited to CNN - no UK channels
breakfast was expensive if you just wanted tea and toast - no middle ground
great location - but currently they are renovating next door ( i believe) and there was building noise from early in the morning
cab from the airport is 19 euros
