“Excellent Location, Safe, But Small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2009

This hotel had an exceptional location, we walked everywhere. It was safe. It is perfect if you plan to spend your whole day out and want to leave your precious belongings in a safe place as it is very safe. Although some fixtures are aging, it was fairly clean. However, the rooms are very small, very small. If I had more money I would probably choose another hotel, but if I had to stay on my last budget, I would not mind staying here again.

It was 40F when we visted Madrid and our room did not have heat. In addition to our room we paid an upgrade. Housecleaning did not remove gum from the previous guest stuck to the wall. Though I liked the location, not having heat, paying an upgrade and the hotel not offering any concession was a deal breaker - not even breakfast. We will not be back. There are plenty of options in the area.

Having stayed here three times this year, I feel it's time for me to move on to another hotel. Although the Quo is still a relatively new hotel, the interior is already looking worn and tired. Holes in the wall have been fixed, but not properly though, and there was masking tape left on the smoke alarm (not such a good idea, is it?!). Still no help offered with luggage, I mean, one might at least offer to hold the door open for guests who carry more than one item. Since my first stay room rates have risen by a third, which is absurd, given the decline of service and ageing decor. Upon arrival, I had to go straight back to reception and ask for a different room. The one I had been given had a strange synthetic smell, and the windows wouldn't open (no. 705, since you ask). The second room was fine, though it is odd, for example, not to have a chair at the desk.
One improvement I noticed that they've put instructions in the bathrooms on how to use the shower - it is such a 'clever' design you just can't work it out unless someone tells you..

I had booked this hotel through roomsnet.com (a UK company) 3-4 months in advance and had paid in full with a voucher to boot. Apparently their contact in Spain did not pay for the room and we were cancelled by the hotel but never contacted by roomsnet so when we arrived at the hotel after almost two weeks of travel through Spain we were shocked to find no reservation and no immediate help through roomsnet. The hotel staff were lovely and could accomodate us at a higher rate and although the room was quite small the location and amenities suited a three star hotel. I have yet to receive a refund from roomsnet so beware if you are considering booking through that company.

Unassuming on the outside, but very pleasant inside. This hotel has modern decor and comfortable beds. Our room on the 5th floor was quiet with the window shut although you can hear a bit of movement from the hallway occasionally as the floors are wooden.

Location wise this place is perfect - a 5 min walk to any number of bars, restaurants, shops and Puerto del Sol with it's metro station.

Spot on and good value for money.

We booked this hotel on a friend's recommendation for a long weekend. The rate was very good. We didn't book breakfast so I can't comment on the food.

The staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant (and English-speaking). However, soundproofing to the other rooms was abysmal. It was Blanco de Noches (Culture night where everything is open all night). We were kept awake by parades, street musicians, and various other events throughout the night - even though the hotel is on a relatively quiet. We could hear the housekeeping staff vacuuming the rooms above us and conversations about where to eat breakfast in the hallway outside each morning.

I can't fault the location - less than 5 minutes to the Sol metro station, right outside the Sevilla metro station, 20 minute walk to the Prado.

Another bug bear - the bathroom didn't have a proper door on it, just a frosted glass door that didn't seal in the doorframe. If you don't know your traveling companion before you stay here, you will afterward.

All in all, a nice hotel - if they fixed the soundproofing.
