“That's what you call Location!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2012

Our first trip to Europe and Madrid was our first stop. We had never had a hostel experience before and trust me it was a beautiful beginning to a beautiful holiday. Marlasca is situated at a 2 minute walking distance from Sol- in fact, we used to just come out and take a walk around the area whenever we needed- it was so lively with beautiful people, bustling bars, street performers. However, since the hostel is situated in one of the by lanes off Sol it was not too noisy once we were inside the room. There was a tiny balcony in the room overlooking the by lane. The room was not large but spacious by European standards- in fact our hotel rooms in the other cities in Europe were sometimes smaller than this hostel room! There was a small LCD TV and wardrobes. Lockers were available. However, the cupboard only fitted our small suitcase not the large one and we had to keep it on the floor. T

There was no breakfast service but we were already aware of that and in a place like Sol it was much more fun to just step out and have a nice late breakfast at a nearby cafe and people-watch.

Rooms were very clean and cleaned every day and well decorated unlike other hostel rooms which is sometimes very bare. The common areas like the reception and corridors and small lobby on each floor is really nicely done up with paintings and installations- which will really give you an European feel. In fact we took pictures in the corridors! And among all the hotels where we stayed during our European trip Marlsca was the best decorated.

The staff who are at the reception during the day were always helpful and offered to make reservations for us at restaurants/ gave us good directions to attractions. The staff who were there in the night did not understand English so it was a bit difficult.

The free wi-fi in the room was also good and had good speed.

I highly recommend it for young travelers and if you don't mind stepping out for breakfast. The location gets a huge thumbs-up from me!

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor so it was niot noisy. Maybe the lower floors will be noisy so avoid them.

Charming hostal with very good location. Everything is near: Puerta del Sol, good restaurants, shopping and the nightlfe. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly. We really loved the neighbourhood! Highly recommended, will definitely stay in Marlasca again!

The hotel has an excellent location. It is situated in the heart of Madrid close to metro and main touristic sights. A lot of tapas bars and cafés with traditional Spanish food were near the hotel.
The room was small, but very clean and well equipped. The staff was polite but they did not speak English. The price was reasonable. We paid 163 Euros for 4 nights per a double bed room.

This hostal is right in the barrio de los letras in the center of Madrid. The rooms are very clean, well equipped, wifi works in every room. We have stayed there many times and every time the staff is very helpful, even though we never know our schedule or length of stay in advance. Restaurants, bars shopping and entertainment are all at the door. we prefer it even to some of the small hotels in the area and the price is very reasonable.

Room Tip: we prefer the back rooms on the upper floors. they are very quiet. all the front rooms have double s...

Stayed here for 3 nights. It was an excellent choice for a weekend base. It's 2 minutes walk from Puerta del Sol in the heart of the city. It's not 5 star but what you do get is a central base in a clean hotel for £50 a night which is very good value by Madrid standards. Loads of places to eat and drink with walking distance. Would highly recommend if central is what you are looking for.

This great place offers fantastic value for money in a brilliant location in the very centre of Madrid. The room we stayed at had a little balcony overlooking Calle de la Cruz and we could just about see Casa de Abuelo-a wonderful bar serving gambas al ajillo (prawns in garlicky, spicy oil) and vermouth on tap. The room itself was clean and modern and equipped with all you might need! I would definitely recommend it to anybody who wants a nice, clean place in the centre of town!

This great little hotel offers fantastic value for money in an excellent location, right in the centre of Madrid.
We have stayed at the Marlasca on two occasions and intend to stay there again soon. It has authentic Spanish character and the rooms, although not luxurious, are clean and nicely furnished, with en suite facilities. The air conditioning makes the rooms comfortable even on the hottest days. A great advantage is that you're situated close to everything in the heart of the city, being just around the corner from Peurto del Sol and Santa Anna Square, as well as being close to Plaza Mayor. I would definitely recommend it.
