“Great Hotel for a Trip to Madrid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

I stayed at the Abba Hotel last week on a 4-day business trip, and it was a great experience. Having never been to Madrid before, the hotel was booked by a colleague based on internet reviews, and it turned out to be a great choice.

Firstly, the location is good. It is near a metro stop, but is also only a 15 minute taxi ride into the center of Madrid, so it's a good base to explore the city.

The rooms are very comfortable, and are equipped with powerful air conditioning to get the room temperature down at night to help you sleep. All rooms have Wi-Fi, too.

The food in the hotel restaurant is excellent overall. Evening meals are very good, and you can have a 3-course set menu for only 20 Euros. Breakfast is superb, with a typical continental-style banquet, and some Spanish touches such as lovely breakfast tortillas and the best fresh orange juice you will ever taste.

The service is very good from the helpful, friendly staff, most of whom speak English. All in all it is an excellent Madrid hotel, and makes a great base for either business or pleasure.

Excellent location, close to the airport , good get away point to the near by mountains and close to metro station , can not ask for more . Staff are extremely friendly and helpful especially Elena from front desk and the bar tender. Value for money is excellent, A/C needs to be improved as there is a noticeable noise.

Room Tip: Took the 11 floor room away from noise

the hotel must have been fancy at the beginning, but now it's a bit old and old fashion and to be honest not very clean. also, it shows up on one of the street with more traffic in the city. watch out the window in the room when you open it up, it releases up very fast pushed by a spring... my finer got injuried.

Room Tip: not located on the high traffic road side and not by the elevator

Spent one night on a busniess trip. Room was basic with no frills. Air conditioning produced lots of noice and very little cooling. Breakfast selection was less than what is standard in a 4- star business hotel.

Front desk nice and helpful. Room rates low, I spent 90 Euro for one night..

Area is convenient for eastern business district and airport. Better to stay in one of the hotels at the airport.

however they should replace their TVs with slim ones! Besides that, the hotel is amazing.. i was happy with their service.. restaurant, reaction etc. the good thing also is that its at the same spot Metro station is located.
I have no doubt that it reflect the star rating more than any hotel i have seen in Spain.

Hotel Abba is located very close to the Intercambiador Avenida de America (cca 3 mins walk) in relative centre of Madrid. The Intercambiador is one of the main arrival and departure point of long and medium distance buses that serve Spain as well as a crossing of several metro lines.

The hotel is particularly useful for a quick access to the Barajas Airport, which is about 15-20 mins bus ride (bus number 200 serving all terminals, currently Euro 1.50 for single) or taxi with driving time of around 10 mins (around Euro 15-20, depending on terminal).

In front of the hotel runs a very busy multiple lane road, which can be busy and noisy, however the windows manage to filter out most of the noise.

The reception and the bar area is very elegant, the staff is extremely helpful and polite.
The rooms are pristine clean, usually have a little entrance area that is separated from the bedroom by a door. The bedroom is beautifully decorated, quite sizeable, the bed is very comfortable and big. The minibar offers basic selection of drinks, however the TV is not a flat screen. I also used the room service and ordered food (tasty large pizza for Euro 13).

The bathroom has luxury feel (in my case it also had a window) and includes a complementary shaving kit, tooth brush and paste and a comb.

The air-condition was working great, but it could be a little quieter. The room seems to be well isolated from noise in the corridor and other bedrooms.

I didn't opt for the breakfast in hotel which seems to be very expensive (around Euro 16). There are several little bars and cafes around where you can breakfast for less than 5 Euros.
Wifi is free, but limited to 60 mins a day and is only available in the hotel lobby and bar area. Pre-paid wifi is available in rooms.

I did a very last minute and emergency booking of my room (less than 2 hours before my arrival) and probably because it was the night of a very important football game in Madrid, the price was Euro 175 for what it looked like 'Executive' room!!!

Checking the official website now, the price is Euro 75 for standard room, Euro 95 for 'Executive room' and Euro 165 for Suite, which I consider a great deal!

I am happy to recommend this hotel as it offers great services, good prices and very useful location.

Room Tip: Rooms in higher floors, especially those to the immediate left of the lift!
