“great place and extremely friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

i visit this hotel during my short visit to Madrid. i emailed previously asking for a view to the plaza, when i got there the hotel staff honored the request. as soon as i walked the door "Pablo" jumped and took my bags with a big smile. they the registration process was very quick with extra concierge services (maps and things to do around the hotel). the room was great and clean. the only issue was that my shampoo bottle was really old and used, when i montioned that to Antonio upon departure, i didnt get any apology.

Room Tip: Tips: ask for a plaza view / visit Starbucks across the street / got eat at the market about two blo...

We stayed at Hotel Europe for 3 nights with our teenage kids and had 2 rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious, the bathrooms were modern, and the central location was unbeatable!

This hotel is located in an ideal location. It is so convenient to the plaza and the tourist hot spots. The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was very professional. They were very nice and pleasant. If I am in Madrid again, I would stay here.

Location, Location, Location. Book this if you can. Make sure you get the top floor with the balcony view of the plaza. Sitting and drinking wine watching the activities below was very very very much worth it. We enjoyed this hotel a great deal. It is so central. The Sol area is a great area to be based in for Madrid. It’s only a 15-20 min walk to many of the sites. The room was clean, comfortable, nice size (for Europe). The balcony allowed us to stand or sit and watch the entertainment and marches and political rallies down below in Puerta Sol. This was quite incredible – at all hours. But when you closed the doors and windows – it was extremely quiet, permitting us to sleep. We’d stay here again for sure. Good value for what it offers. Loved our time there. Location was fab.

Location at the Puerto del Sol is noisy but very convenient. Lots of good restaurants if you get away from the area. Watch your pockets - if I can spot pick pockets then they're not very good, and there's probably a dozen or more for every one I can see.

We were there in early summer, and at first had a room for 2, then later for 3 when a third family member arrived. The rooms were ok - certainly convenient. But the room is just a room, with two beds and a rather dated decor. Lighting is mostly overhead and a bit harsh. The room was too dark without the ceiling lights on. The bathroom was just ok. The hotel is huge - long hallways, etc. The people at the front desk commented that much of their business is actually tour groups. It's clean. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Restaurant downstairs is fine for breakfast but in Madrid you can find loads more interesting. And as for the location I like the area near the Prado better.

All in all if you can't find anything better this is a fine place, but it's nothing special.

Lovely hotel literally in the center of it all. Very noisy it's true, but we loved it. Our balcony right over the Puerto del Sol gave us a front row seat for all the fabulous people watching we wanted: protests, street performers, drunks, hunger-strikers, soccer games, police activity......we were thoroughly entertained every night. In the morning grab a cheap cafe con leche and egg and bacon sandwich at the restaurant. It has a cut out in the bread for the yolk!!! Short walk or taxi ride to everything! We really enjoyed our stay here.

Located just off the Puerta del Sol, this hotel offers great service, clean rooms and access to a restaurant in the building. The staff were very friendly and eager to be of help answering all our questions for directions and calling for a taxi to take us to the airport. We were very satisfied and recommend it with the caution to ask for a room away from the street. It can be noisy at night.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room
