“City centre location is fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

Myself and 2 friends stayed here on the last weekend of January 2014. Marc, who we dealt with for the contract/deposit etc was very pleasant, professional and accommodating. The location was really great for exploring the city centre on foot (we didn't use the metro at all during the weekend). There were restaurants, bars and some shops on the same street. The apartment was clean, bright and modern. Would very happily come back again.

Group of 8 fit comfortably, however there is a big need for air conditioning especially in summer days, only the living room is airconditioned and the rest of the rooms were a bit too warm for some of us. Other than the it was GREAT! The caretaker, fernando, spoke a some english, enough to have the contracts signed, give the money, arrange for meet ups etc. Although he did wear the same set of clothes for 4 days straight we still love him.

The apartment is located perfectly, halfway between the Plaza Mayor and the Paseo del Prado. Surrounded by good Tapas bars and restaurants and just off Plaza Angel. The apartment was very clean, decorated attractively in the modern style and it had all you need to cook simple meals. or wash your clothes.

The only thing you need to be aware of is the street is lively at night, but flow with the way residents organize their day and this is no problem.

The apartment was clean with a good bathroom and a reasonably stocked kitchen. There was keyed entry to the building and to the top floor apartment (with a lift) with huge old beams. We were right at the top on the street side. It was attic style so the floor space was not all useable; a fair bit was only good for storing cases. There was only 1 small window which you could look out of, the other was a skylight. So OK for a few days but after our 9 nights, a little ‘internal’. I see there are other apartments which probably look a bit better.

Room Tip: close the windows and put the air con on - Spain is a late night city!

Great location with Plaza Santa Ana very close with lots of tapas bars and restaurants. Spacious apartment, very good value for money with everything you need. Had no problems with noise (just close the windows and put the air con on). Walking distance from lots of attractions. They even held our bags for us the day we were due to leave which was very helpful. We loved our stay here and found the staff helpful, even if their English was about as good as our Spanish....

Located in the Central district it is in the heart of the action. Restaurants, shopping, sight seeing is all close by. Doesn't look like much from the outside the apartment is clean, and comes with a kitchen and everything else you need for an enjoyable stay. Only downside is the restricted check in time but if you are able to abide by it you will like this apartment.

Room Tip: Ask for a unit in the back of the building if you are bothered by late night pedestrian traffic.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We (father and son) traveled during July, which is hideously hot in Madrid, and stayed at the Aptos Madrid Huertas for 3 nights. Overall a fairly spacious apartment facing the street (although we asked for something more quiet, facing the inner courtyard area when booking 3 months in advance and still did not get it -- minus points for that). The kitchen was awesome, especially for breakfast when nobody wanted to go anywhere except plunk down at the table, eat, and THEN start the day afterwards. A supermarket is conveniently right around the corner as well.

The location is very central to everything. Possibly TOO central, if noise bothers you. Even high above (4th floor) the noise from the youth hostel across the street was annoying-to-exasperating. But you are definitely in the thick of things at this location -- restaurants, bars, stores, plazas, the metro, etc. The wooden-blind-door things did a good job shutting out almost all light, however. Also the rooms were extremely clean... excellent.

One BIG complaint (aside from the youth hostel noise) was the air conditioning. It was on some sort of override program that shut it down between 1am to 6am, no matter what we did with the thermostat -- remember, this was in hideously hot Madrid in July! The room was nearly 80F degrees according to my travel clock/ thermometer at 6am. Otherwise, assuming you aren't traveling in June / July / August, none of this may matter.

Room Tip: If noise bothers you, ask for a room that faces the inside courtyard area (away from anything facing...

Estimado Amigo:
