3 friends and I stayed at these apartments at the end of October 2003.We were on a stag weekend (not sure if these are called the same in the US - a trip away before a young man gets married (OK we're in our 30s now but I think that still counts as young) ?) - but were not particularly interested in the traditional pastimes of drinking too much and handcuffing the groom to a lamppost (maybe next time .The apartments are located in the Huertas area of the city, which we found very convenient for Tapas bars, restaurants etc. There is a metro station quite close, and you are right next to the Plaza Santa Ana which is the centre of the restaurant scene (from what I could make out). Its an easy walk to Puerta del Sol and the open-top buses etc.The apartments themselves were fairly spacious (by European standards) and were clean. There did seem to be a number of other 'stag weekend' groups staying there - but we had no problems with noise or rowdy behaviour. There was an initial mix up where we were given a double room rather than a twin, but the front desk sorted this out immediately. This is an Aparthotel though so don't expect room service or any of the other niceties of a full-service hotel, you basically get the room and its facilities and thats it.The apartments are on a smallish street just north of Plaza Santa Ana. As I'm sure you have heard the Madrilenos like to party well into the night, so there will be people in the street until the early hours of the morning so there may be some noise - our room was at the rear of the property so we did not have any problems. There are a number of bars on the street, but as I remember none played loud music. The hotel kept someone on the front door at night to ensure that only guests could enter. In summary I would say the area is not 'quiet', but we did feel safe.We had a thoroughly good time in Madrid (and can also recommend Bravo Bike cycling tours - we did the Chinchon to Aranjuez tour which gave a different perspective on things, and got us out of the city - although I'm not quite as fit as I thought !)
