“Great views, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

A dinner in the sky. The food is good, but not stunning, some of the portions were a bit too ordinary for a fancy-like place. Good service but waiters seem to keep the distance, I mean, there were no warmly welcome for the place or jokes or even smiles around... probably a part of the luxus place image. I would come back for just the view though.

“Nice views – good food and different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Located on the 33rd floor of a glass building the views are quite impressive and since one of the glass walls faces the west you can catch a very nice sunset in the spring and summer months. The location in Madrid is unique. That I know off, there is only one other comparable restaurant on the 30th floor in the Eurostars hotel, but the food was average when we went and it doesn’t have much in the way of views, (much less glass) which kind of defeats the purpose of sitting 500 feet above the city.

The food was good, not outstanding, but yes something we recommend and what we expected for the price and type of restaurant. The service was excellent in terms of attitude but only good in terms of delivery. Everyone was always of the best disposition but the execution sometimes faltered. Though it is not the sort of place you’d expect to find children it just so happens we went with ours (3 - 9 and under) and were pleasantly surprised when upon seeing my daughters the headwaiter offered a couple of “child friendly” options for them (there are none on the menu). These were charged at lower prices than normal dishes. In 10 years of living in Madrid this is the first time we’ve encountered an actively child friendly attitude in a restaurant.

Actually getting to the restaurant is quite unique. We found it entertaining and in no way a hassle but I see a lot of other visitors do not share our amusement. Since it is located in an office building that houses a couple of important embassies you must go through strict security checks (metal detector, bag x-ray, showing passport or ID, signing an entry log) before reaching the elevators. The restaurant hostess waits at the entrance, helps with the process and then accompanies you up the elevator all the way to the restaurant. The inverse happens when you leave, but without the checks. If you come in a car (you must say so when you reserve) you will be saved a place in the basement parking lot which is private and you will be let into the garage by security guards that will have a register with your plate numbers and will be expecting you. Every member of your party, including children, must carry valid ID. If you are not a EU resident this will usually mean a passport.

My recommendation is you reserve for the earliest possible time (usually 9:00pm) and arrive about 10 minutes early. Because in Madrid most people dine later than this you will probably be alone or with one other couple at arrival which will expedite the process of going through the checkpoint. It will also maximize your chances of getting a table right against the glass wall and having a great view… which is of course one of the reasons to go there in the first place.

I can only speculate as to why there is such a spread of opinions in the other reviews of this restaurant. Maybe we were just lucky. We’re definitely going back. We had a great experience and came away wanting to repeat it. Let’s hope it was more than luck… or we get lucky again.

“Good impression and good food but....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

I was impressed by the food served the views are of course outstanding but I had a little incident in the bathroom as it was too dirty for such a place.
Staff was very nice and professional. I will certainly come back.

“Great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Worth it for the view alone. Security to get in the building was excessive but with 4 embassies maybe it has to be. Tries to be a top class restaurant with all the trimmings but does not quite make it. Wine waiter with a tastevin the size of bowl and a leather apron was really over the top. Food was not bad but unfortunately my wife spent the night being sick which we think must have been the octopuss. Very expensive but as I said the view is great
