We came to this hotel as part of an organised bus trip. We stayed two nights and had a seventh floor, attic room. It was very clean and modern. There's no restaurant but plenty places to eat nearby. Breakfast is self service and adequate. Free wifi and several TV news programmes in English.
My only minor complaint would be that the en-suite was a wet room and as the shower is near the door, you paddle through the water to get out. I had to take a towel to dry my feet before stepping onto the laminate bedroom floor. The bathroom is equipped for a person with a handicap so full marks to the hotel for that.

I booked this hotel as part of a package with british airways. Its well located in las latinas, lots of bars and restaurants more of a younger clientel area.

Its also close to plaza mayor beautiful and then a really nice walk into centro up to gran via. Again lots of restaurants and bars these more civilised than las latina.

The hotel is nice for 3 star i stayed in one of the refurbished rooms on the 6th floor. The bathroom door didnt close properly because its been repainted so many times its too big for the frame. the bed was really comfortable it was really clean it has a/c the tv was tiny however we werent really there to watch tv.

The staff were friendly nice welcome as i arrived late around midnight the last thing u want is someone grumpy checking you in so glad for good service. The receptionist actually chased after me to give me a password
For the free wifi which was really fast and much better than ive experienced in much more expensive hotels.

I never made it down for breakfast so cant review that, over all great stay definately recommend it.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2015

Stayed there for 2 nights, no complaints. The room was spotless. It looked newley decorated and quite modern. I noticed that some guests had old style keys (Spanish guests mostly) with a weight attached that had to be left at reception when going out. We where given a new style card key. It may be possible that some parts of the hotel have been refurbished and some not, as I have seen some bad reviews from Spanish guests on tripadviser. I also could smell fresh paint in the lobby area on arrival. The breakfest was exellent,, the lobby area is very pleasent as well with a bar and restaurant. Location is good, close to city centre and there are a few nice spanish restaurants (not tourist traps) near by.
Would recommend and would come again.

I am so happy we could ade the reservation for this nice hotel. We have stayed in the new floors, they are so modern, clean, they got a good view of the city (unfortunately not the one with the Puerta de Toledo on it) The staff was so kind for everything from the people at the reception, to the maids and the waiters and waitresses. Breakfast was delicious and wirh a lot of dishes to offer, if you want the tortilla of potato get down early. I loved the details of the candy and the daily chocolate. The location is great, is so close to everything, you can walk or take the metro if you are tired. I definitely recommend this nice hotel in Madrid.

I spent 2 nights in Hotel Puerta de Toledo on a business trip. I would definitely recommend this hotel - the location is good and the overall service is great. The room I was in was cozy, nice and clean. The food is also very good.

I'm surprised by the good reviews--I definitely feel let down by the reviews as I consulted Tripadvisor prior to booking. I do notice, however, that the 5 reviews that are "terrible" are all in Spanish...I should have listened to those reviews even though there are many more good reviews. As someone who has traveled throughout Europe, this is one of the worst places I have stayed--there are better hostels!

The beds are EXTREMELY uncomfortable--the floor is a more comfortable bed than the actual bed. When we inquired at the front desk, reception rudely said that the mattresses are changed every two years and there is nothing they can do. There were no other rooms available. The room is in desperate need of updates. The restaurant that is a part of the hotel is HORRIBLE. We ordered drinks at the bar. One of our drinks sat at the bar even though the bartender said the server would bring the drink to the table. We had to get the drink. The sandwiches we ordered were cold--even though they were to be hot. The bread was overcooked. The steak was overcooked--likely re-heated. Disgusting.

For a three star hotel, this is unacceptable. A hostel would have been a better choice...even if it meant sharing a room with ten people. We will not stay again.

The location is good and is only about fifteen minutes walking from Plaza Mayor. The surrounding neighborhood has a lot of bars and stores.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!
