“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Great location, clean rooms with good quality furnishing of a modern touch, first class bed linen, excellent bathroom facilities and supplies, fast & free internet, free minibar, delicious breakfast with ample choice from fruit and cake to meats and fish. The highlight for me was the absolutely professional staff who ‘went the extra mile’ to correct a misunderstanding that was probably mainly my fault. If you are looking for a superb site from which to explore Madrid that makes you feel welcome and looked-after – this is it. Truly amazing.

This hotel is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel room has a refrigerator which has free water, coke, etc. The hotel is close to everything. It's within walking distance of the Royal Palace, museums, great restaurants, Plaza Sol, the metro, etc. The shopping in that area is also excellent. You won't regret staying here.

We stayed at the Preciados for three nights with our son and his family. The outstanding feature of this hotel is its location. It is within a five minute walk of two major subway stations and within a twenty minute walk of most places of interest. It is located on a pedestrian mall that is dotted with cafes and small shops. The staff was friendly and helpful, making reservations for us at a Flamenco restaurant. Finally, the breakfasts were among the best that we have seen in all our travels.

We loved this hotel, the staff especially Christina made us feel so very welcome, she and the rest of the staff were very warm welcoming and helpful.
I found this hard to believe, everything in the MINIBAR is free of charge and they replace what you use!!!... water, juices, beer and soda!!!!
Everything about this hotel is FIRST class. The rooms have metal electric roll down blinds with two double glass windows so it is extremely quiet.
The location is centrally located. Would highly recommend this Hotel.

Stayed 5 nights at this excellent hotel at the end of October. We could not have asked for a better stay. When we first pulled up I was a little worried because of some work that was going on in front of the hotel. It turned out that trees and landscaping work was in progress. It was very minimal and done before we left. The trees look good too. When we went to check in the reception was very friendly and welcoming. We were told they had a surprise for us and upgraded us to a suite for the whole visit. The suite was on the 4th floor and was fabulous. Bathroom was large and modern. The toiletries provided were above and beyond. All kids of little things I had forgotten, nail polish remover, make up pads, you name it, it was there and replenished every day. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. There was a separate sitting room which worked out great as my husband was working 2 of the days and wanted to turn in early, so I could stay up and read, etc. The bedroom had three large windows with 4 Juliette balconies. The views of the pedestrian street in front of the hotel and on one side kept me entertained. The bed was huge and comfortable.
I am a light sleeper and was worried about noise from a few reviews and from my husbands experience last year at another hotel right on La Grand Via. No worries here. Each window had a double set of french windows that completely blocked out any noise. If that were not enough there were additional electric blinds that retracted completely. They silently came down and flipped to block out any possible noise and light. This came in very handy when we arrived exhausted after 16 hours of travel. The suite had a small refrigerator stocked with juice water and beer. There was also a box of delicious chocolates on the bed when we arrived.
The service at the hotel was excellent, friendly and warm. There was no communication problem whatsoever with my very limited Spanish as the staff spoke excellent English.
The hotel has a great restaurant for after shopping breaks, wine was good and prices reasonable. I always felt welcome.
The location of this hotel is near to perfect. It is just off of the main shopping boulevard and a large square so you have proximity without the noise and bustle. Ultra convenient to the metro but we never even used it, we walked everywhere. We were within walking distance of the Palace, the Prado, Retiro Park, Peurto del Sol, the Mercado San Miguel and so many cafes, tapas bars and restaurants we were at a loss to choose one. There was a small tapas place 3 doors down from the hotel that became my afternoon hang out. The small street the hotel is on has 10 or more cafes and restaurants and again, the hotel restaurant was excellent.
I can't think of a thing that this place lacks. We previously stayed at two hotels rated number 1 and 2. They were lovely but do not compare with the comfort, service an convenience of this hotel. This is our number one choice in Madrid and cannot wait to return. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making this such a fabulous stay.

Room Tip: They don't tell you about the electric blinds. The controls are by the lights in the bedroom an...

It is difficult to beat the location of this hotel. Puerta del Sol is a few minutes walk away. The Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor and other attractions are also near enough to walk to. It was convenient for shopping. We would accumulate several packages buying stuff in the stores in the vicinity, and then return to the hotel to deposit them. The free mini bar was a nice touch, making us feel welcome.
We had the buffet breakfast on two mornings. It is an extensive spread. The only thing it lacked was cava. On my last trip to Spain, Cava was usually part of the breakfast buffet.
We liked the modern interiors, none of the heavy, old fashioned furniture found in other hotels.

Dear Guest,

We appreciate your time to give an opinion on the Hotel Preciados. The line of the building where is located the Hotel is classic, old Madrid, but inside a modern store in rooms and in our facilities as well you explain. Thanks a lot for your comments about location, free minibar and the quality of the buffet breakfast.

Thank you very much and hope to see you soon.

Best regards.

We stayed for two nights in this hotel for our weekend break in Madrid, and it was ideal. The location is about as good as it could be, very central, with most of the main sights within walking distance. Two metro stations are very close by and Puerta del Sol only a couple of minutes’ walk away. The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful and a porter showed us up to our room. Any staff we encountered all spoke English to a high standard, so no communication problems!

The room itself (we had a basic double) was very comfortable and clean, looked out over the street and had two small balconies. There were two sets of double-glazed doors to walk through to the balconies, so no street noise penetrated to the room at all and shutters could be lowered to block out light if you wanted. Although not huge, the room was very well appointed, and had everything you could need for your stay including a complimentary mini-bar and excellent WiFi connection. The bathroom was very well fitted, with good shower and complimentary toiletries and housekeeping was carried out to a very high standard.

Breakfast was a self-service buffet with a huge choice and clearly a lot of thought had gone into catering for the breakfast requirements of many different nationalities. It got you off to a great start to the day.

Any future visit to Madrid would definitely see us returning to the Preciados – why go anywhere else when all you want and need is here?
