“10 Euros / Day for WiFi”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

Stayed here several 'long' nights without sleep. On street side of hotel with noise from below all night long. Stayed in 6 different hotels on our Spain trip and.this is the only one who charged for internet and it was ten euros/day. Hotel has a great location...

Room Tip: Request a room not on the streetside...

This hotel is not for everyone. The rooms are a bit small, especially if you are from the U.S. and expect a bigger room, but the location is excellent. Our room had to twin beds instead of a full bed, but it worked out just fine. The location of the hotel is the main selling point. The hotel is just off of Calle Gran Via, which has excellent shopping. The hotel is ideally located near several metro stations and is easy walking distances to many attractions. The value was great and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

the bathroom is so tiny that every time i entered it, i feared something would fall into the toilet. you couldn't stand at the sink without brushing against the toilet. the shower was moldy in some areas, but i think they tried to keep the place clean. the bedspread had seen better days, and the sheets and towels were of poor quality, but at least they didn't smell. the hotel is located in the middle of a touristy area. at night, you can hear all the street/alley noises, even on the top floor. it is close to gran via and callao metro stops. staff were not eager to help, but that seemed to be the case for most of the places we stayed i. Spain, so perhaps i shouldn't hold it against them. it's not terrible if you just want a place to crash -- it is clean enough and the location is fine. but not a good place to stay if you want to enjoy the room/scenery/hotel.

On as cultural touring holiday and Madrid and its surrounds, we arrived by hire car at the Regente hotel, whose entrance is up a narrow one way street. We had to do a circular route to get back and find the car park (which cost about 15 euros a day!). The hotel is clamouring and busy, and somehow reminds one of a youth hostel, not a so-called classic City Centre Hotel. Although small, the room was well appointed and comfortable, our view from the window was into the equivalent of Oxford street in London, teeming with life,. and after a quick 'freshen up' we went to explore. The Regente is in fact excellently located in the heart of the restaurants and shopping area so we were able to see the marvellous open area which was like trafalgar square. Returning later and in need of a bath, I luxuriated in scented water and then pulled out the plug. The water from the bath suddenly began to fill the bathroom and the floor soaked and smelly. I replaced the plug, and as I stepped carefully out of the bath, I slipped and bruised myself. Calls to the reception eventuated in a lady coming to our room at 9.30 in the evening and cleaning up the mess. It seemed that there was a valve under the floor that was faulty and the water hadn't drained away. Despite her reporting the incident and seeing my bruised hip, there was no apology from the hotel. I have since written to the Management Team. Breakfast was dire and the room had no 'fridge or tea/coffee making facitlities. So a mixed review about a hotel that could be so much better with a little more thought, and the same must be said for the staff. One who simply didn't care and was brusque to the point of rudeness and others who went the extra mile (or in this case Kilometre) to help. Jan Long, Ledbury

Room Tip: Book a low floor - the waiting for lifts is ridiculous as there are only 2. Take your own travel...

Hotel regente is in a fab location couldnt have been in a better place right on the grand via, shopping centre just around the corner. Bus stops right outside the hotel, for tourist sightseeing bus and local transport. Right next door to the hotel is a flamenco show bar which is very convenient. This hotel is very central and within walking distance if most if Madrid attractions. Hotel is very clean, staff very friendly and helpful!! Expect a little noise are you are staying right in the centre of the grand via!! Excellent hotel I would definately recommend

This hotel is perfectly located both for shopping and for sightseeing. The rooms are not large, but comfortable and clean. The bathroom is well equipped and large. The only issue was breakfast. It was really good, but the queues in frotn of the room were sometimes quite long, as the breakfast room is small for such amount of hotel rooms. In general, I was completely satisfied.
