“Perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Stayed in Liabeny in 2009, and came back in 2013. This is the perfect hotel for Madrid. The location is perfect: walking distance from La Gran Vía and Puerta del Sol. You will have countless options of dining and bars within walking distance. The cafeteria next door (Vianvi) serves great and cheap breakfast.

The service in the hotel was great. For the location and the service, you will think of Liabeny as an expensive hotel, but it is certainly not. I will stay here every time I come back to Madrid.

Great location and great services. The hotel is on a quiet street but close to the busy shopping areas. We like the frozen yogurt place nearby. The hotel's decor is old. But it's clean and spacious. The overall service was good. We got pick pocket at Madrid. The hotel helped connect to all credit card services so that we can report lost without charging us for phone. They also help out printing train tickets at no costs. Check in and Check out procedures were easy and quick. I wrote down preferences at the time of booking. They met all preferences. (ie. High floor and away from Elevator).

We live in Andalusia and went to Madrid for our travel further on to the Philippines. Just had one night before going to the airport in Madrid.
The hotel has a perfect location in the heart of city - it is just cool and the staff - all of them - are kind and very concious.
Their cafeteria is good, quick and and you can bring your coffee or your wine to your room.
In the close neightbourhood you find nice small bars and restaurant. If you want to try breakfast another place go to the local bar called Vianvi, just outside the hotel, in Plaza del Carmen.
Go there if you want a couple of days in Madrid.

Stayed here on a recent trip to Madrid. The hotel is in a great location. Its just a short walk walk (1 blockish) to Gran Via or Sol Plaza. The Prado museum is a bit longer walk but still easy. The hotel is very modern and in great condition. The staff is good as well. I would stay here again and definately recommend it.

The location is excellent, and very convenient for the major tourist sites and public transport. The location was a major consideration for us, as we only had 3 nights in Madrid and wanted to see as much as possible. The central location was also useful, as dinners are very late in Spain (restaurants don’t get going until about 8pm), we wanted a place where a walk back to our hotel at night was easy and safe.

The cleaning staff were a bit annoying as they vacuumed loudly outside our room at 8am which woke us up each day. However, despite seemingly keen cleaners, our room was not particularly clean (especially the bath). We mentioned this to the front desk staff who did arrange for the bath to be cleaned. The cleaners did turn up, and gave the bath a cursory wipe, but didn’t remove the bath ring.

The four star rating was probably a bit generous. The rooms are dated. However, I did feel that generally the star rating in Madrid and Barcelona was different to the rest of Europe. All the Spanish stars felt bumped up half to one star compared to the rating system in the rest of Europe.

I booked this on behalf of 3 others and am so glad to say we were all very impressed with the hotel, its location, services, rooms, & staff were all excellent. From check in to leaving, we couldn't have been taken care of better. The room was on 2nd floor and very comfortable and well appointed, our only complaint was the noise from outside and due to warm spell we had window open, in summer either ask for higher floor or hope classed as summer and AC on! We loved the bar and facilities, we had fab nightcaps from really friendly staff and so reasonable cost too. The cafeteria attached was also good, altho the fruit dish for breakfast was quite expensive for what my friend got. The concierge, particularly Antonio were so helpful, always able to answer our questions, & the staff even put up a sign apologising for the street cleaning strike, as if it was under their control (but we thought that was a nice touch). The area was so central, and we could walk out the door and be in Puerta del Sol or on Gran Via in seconds.

Room Tip: In summer ask for higher rooms as noise from street can be quite annoying late into night

We booked Hotel Liabeny based on Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel is clean and well-appointed and in a great central location. The directions on the website are concise and we had no problem getting ourselves there from the airport, by public transport. The beds were very comfortable, there was plenty of light and space in the bathroom, along with a superb rain shower, and we had a large wardrobe and mini bar/fridge. The breakfast buffet is huge and varied and the restaurant itself is bright and airy. The staff we dealt with were all polite, friendly and willing to help. On the downside, the room was quite warm and the air conditioning appeared to be off for the winter, although the heating worked well. Opening the window helped cool things down, but it was too noisy outside to keep open at night. There was only 1 pillow per bed and I would have preferred another - I'm sure I could have requested one, but I didn't bother for a short stay. We didn't get much chance to try any of the other facilities during our short break, but I would definitely recommend and stay there again.
