“Delightful central location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

I loved this stay, really helpful staff and its an ideal location to see the sights and for shopping. Its an older establishment but very clean and central. The area seems very safe at night and its a short stroll to lovely restaurants, flamenco, museums, palace etc.

I stayed here on a business trip for three nights. It was very easy to get a taxi in the morning from the taxi station just outside the hotel. There are also plenty of terraces, bars, restaurants and stores right next door. Breakfast included some very tasty Spanish foods like spicy sausages and serrano. A/C worked fine in the room and window can be opened. Only gripe is that the free WiFi requires logging in with username/password every few hours.

This was my 2nd visit to Madrid and this hotel. Although I looked on the web for other options I decided to return here and was not disappointed. The location is superb - midway between the Sol "square" and the Gran Via. However it's on a little square with narrow lanes so off the main thoroughfares so a bit quieter. Despite that Madrid is a city which comes alive at night and there is an amazing amount of noise from people moving about. If that's not for you, then you need to be away from the centre of the city.

As to the hotel, the rooms are nice, well equipped, clean with comfy beds. The staff are friendly with reasonable English. We breakfasted in cafes so I can't comment on the food. Free wifi - you get a code from reception when you arrive - and something I wish more hotels provided.

Only slight complaint was that they hadn't turned on the aircon system when we arrived as the temperatures had only just started to rise. It was hot at night and a bit noisy with the window open. However, when we were able to have aircon, it was very effective and quiet.

Price from booking.com for double room worked out just under £100/night which for a city centre hotel in a capital city is very reasonable.

Room Tip: Go for upper floors.

The location for this hotel is excellent - just between the Puerta del Sol and Gran Via, but it is quiet and very efficient. The decoration is a bit old-fashioned (too many flowers!) but that's a minor fault. Unlike many 4-star hotels they actually have single rooms. Nice restaurant, though the food isn't terribly exciting. Reasonably-priced shuttle to the airport.

Excellent location. On a quiet street. The concierge was phenomenal.
The restaurant delivers good food in a reasonable price. It was pleasure to stay at this hotel.
I stayed in Seville in 5 stars hotel. It was not as good as this hotel.

We've spent 3 days at this hotel before going to costa rica. The location is perfect-very close to the center with it's shops, bars etc. Yes, it's a little old but very clean and the breakfasts are really amazing. Yes, at 3 am there is a noisy crowd of people but if you can't sleep at night cos of noise don't book the hotel in the center of Madrid. What i liked the best about the hotel is it's staff. These guys found a taxi driver in the car of which my bf left his bag with camera, macbook and 5 000$ cash two hours before our flight to costa rica. I'll never stop thanking Liabeny for finding the guy and making him come back to the airport to give that all back. Thank you, Liabeny!!!!
