“Not a 4* (in my 'umble opinion)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

I was in Madrid for FITUR, so this hotel seemed relatively close to the Feria and also the airport...probably first mistake. The roads in Madrid are maze like, and not matter which way the (cowboy) taxi drivers went, it seemed to take quite some time! And it's certainly not close to town (we cabbed it over to Puerto del Sol, which took a while - traffic was horrendous though).

The hotel itself. On a bit of a shady stretch of road, it looks OK from the outside, with a nice entrance and reception area. Once checked in I headed up to the room - there was maintenance being done in the corridor (painting I think) and the guys looked annoyed that I was passing them by! The room was OKish, certainly not to a 4* standard. Twin beds, not very comfortable, with a thin sheet and itchy blanket. Bathroom was nice enough, with a good section of things to use: toothbrush, toothpaste, comb etc. The night's sleep was pretty poor. As mentioned, the bed wasn't the softest. I was also overlooking the main road, and there didn't seem to be any double glazing! Helicopters, sirens, rubbish/trash vehicles and traffic kept me awake from 5ish...I forgot that I read on here to ask for a room at the back of the hotel!

Breakfast had to be pre-booked, with a charge of €8...I have no idea why it has to be pre-booked...there was plenty of spare tables and it was a buffet!

Oh yeah - there's no iron or ironing board in the room. I had to get an iron from reception - I got the feeling it was the only iron in the place (no board offered) and had to give it back as soon as I was done.

Overall...nice enough on the eyes, not so nice on the sleeping eyes. Not a 4*, but we did get a good enough price on it.

Hotel and room was fine but I take away the fourth star as they do not offer room service for food after the restaurant is closed, otherwise it is a decent hotel. It is not the nicest of areas and the hotel is a little out of place with not much around the vicinity - besides the park, which was closed and the reason why we actually booked that hotel.

This is a expensive hotel that doesn´t allow you to decide if your tiny room is cold or hot. Were as soon as as you arrive they inquire you all the data they need and several more they do not, but probably the make stats with them. After have reserve with several days they just offer double bed in smokers. In the area you can find several hotels as 40 € cheap much better than this one.

Room Tip: Courtyard room are more quiet.

Very helpful staff and the room was clean and bright. The beds were very comfortable and (it was just touching 5c outside) the room was always warm. Try to secure a room at the rear of the hotel, the road is busy and might be a little noisy. Go for the breakfast option, an excellent range of items including scrambled eggs and bacon, amongst a whole range of food options that just has to suit everybody. This a good hotel and despite it being a fair way from the city centre, the Metro & bus terminus are less than a five minute walk. Bus Route 101goes to the airport is very frequently and takes15 minutes. The Metro (Green route 5) takes about 15/20 minutes to city centre. Couple of great Tapas bars just across from bus station, the best is the Kopas Restaurant & Bar. At the end of our stay the hotel manager even did our online check-in for the flight home. We'll use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the rear, the road is busy!

Positive: Very friendly staff, IMHO all comments are accurate indeed. Very good buffet breakfast. I was upgraded (courtesy) and superior room had good size (not huge) and so did the bathroom. Toiletries are not bad even when I must admit I hate soap and shampoo from dispensers. Towels good size but new ones are needed. Great pillows and black outs. Only one iron in the hotel and no board.
If you are visiting Madrid don't go there because the atmosphere is poor. Safe area but on the ugly side, two mediocre bars, a Burger and a Tokyo restaurant is all you get close by. The metro station is 2 blocks away but is the oldest in Madrid so is really slow and mostly does not allow easy combinations.
If you are attending a conference in Campo de las Naciones even when the distance is close the options are taking 2 buses or about an hour and half by metro..yes that leads to taxi being the best option (value oscillated between 5.20 and 10.70 EUROS, above 20 from the airport. There are much better options closer and even downtown can be a more attractive alternative.
It could work for schools as you have kids in an area easy to control. I would certainly not return.

Hotel is located close to airport which is great if staying here in order to catch early flight. However for those wanting to explore the centre of Madrid be prepared for metro journey of about 20mins or so. Wasn't an issue for us but some might feel its a bit far from the action. Room was decent size and had all features expected of 4* hotel. Swimming pool lovely. Breakfast was buffet- very tasty and good choice. Would stay here again
