“A Good Option”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This hotel is outside the historic district but everything is walkable, the main museums and Palace in perhaps 15 minutes. While very busy when we arrived, with lots of people crowding the lobby, the public areas are pleasant and all services are good, including efficient internet and bar/dining options. Staff are helpful and have decent Ennglish. We hadn't stayed with Melia before but would not hesitate to use the chain again.

We stayed here for a week and had a fabulous time. It is right by the Ventura Rodriquez Metro station and we were able to travel there from the airport (with a couple of changes) for 5 Euros! The check in was faultless and the English speaking receptionist marked a map with all of the famous sights for us. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The towels were changed every day (despite hanging them up). We didn't eat in the restaurant because it didn't open until 21.00 (too late for us!) and we had late breakfasts in some of the many tapas bars situated very near. We walked and walked and did all of the touristy things in 35 degrees and slept well without any noise or interruptions. I would recommend this hotel.

We took four rooms here for a family get-together that stretched over weekdays and the weekend. We mostly enjoyed the stay - it is certainly, as other reviewers have said, very convenient for much of Madrid. Indeed the lettering on the top of the hotel seems to be visible from many parts of Madrid. The staff are very polite. Our room - and indeed the rest of the hotel - was kept extremely clean.

It is though, an old building which has apparently been recently refurbished, and it shows in terms of insufficient lift and breakfasting capacity when the hotel is full. On a couple of occasions the lifts have made horrible deep grinding sounds too, that alarmed some of the family.

All of us too have suffered from noise - for some reason even on the 11th floor and with double glazing shut, the traffic noise is very audible, plus the soundproofing between rooms and with the outside corridor is not as good as it should be for a hotel of this quality.

Apart from when the breakfast room is crowded (one day so far, which was awaful), breakfast is good, with a wide selection and attentive staff.

That was now the third time I visited Melia Princesa and as always it was a nice experience. The service in The LEVEL was this year not what it was used to be, but it was still ok. Definitely one of the biggest plus in this hotel is the staff. I travel a lot and I can not remember an other hotel where you get such a friendly and warm welcome.

First of all. Location, location, location. It's in the Centro district, very near Plaza Espana. Most important for me, there was a Metro station outside. Which means easy transportation to anywhere I wanted to go and by the end of the day when I was tired of too much walking and sightseeing there was no walking to the hotel. Just get off the train and straight to rest.
Personel was friendly and English speaking (which for the non-Spanish speaking me was very important).
Breakfast was very satisfying as well. Could please different tastes and habbits.
Overall I would stay again to this if I could just on the location alone.

Great location. Modern hotel. Staff very helpful with good English.
1.5 kilometres, easy walk or underground train from tourist area. Next to Plaza Espania.
Madrid WS a great surprise. Beautiful city with lots to see and do, be it cultural or gastronomic.

Great very clean accommodation. Stayed here with my husband but also friends for 2 days but wish all our hotels were like this. Buffet breakfast was one of the best we have had lots of variety. Easily walked to all major attractions and good Tapas bars. I would highly recommend.
Has free use of gym. Easy access free wi-fi and the front desk was very helpful. Easy to catch a taxi from near by Main Street if needed.
