Its a perfectly located hotel with a good service. Recommend you to reserve a club floor room that gives you a right to use a Club room with nice snacks and drinks. Very good and helpful staff at the reception.

Room Tip: club floor

Well, I think this is more a FOUR STAR hotel rather than five.

Staff is very nice and friendly.
Breakfast was beautiful.
Rooms are nice and comfortable.
We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was OK, but I think you can eat much better outside the hotel.

We went for a relaxing weekend in Madrid and the idea to choose this hotel, was for the SPA facilities, but they are not open during the weekend. I think people would use more the SPA during the weekend rather than week days.

A FIVE STAR hotel, should have the facilities open the whole year, specially if the purpose of the travel is relaxing and weekend for couples.

We just ended our 3 night stay here and unforunatley we were quite dissapointed.

This opinion is based on the fact we have been travelling for two months around Europe, through 3, 4 and 5 star hotels and the overall experience simply is not as good as what was expected from a hotel rated 5 stars.

This hotel I chose based on the rating, reviews and wanting a luxurious stay for the last destination on our trip. We spent too much money and received not enough value back.

The check in was quite cold. The first words after providing our resevation details were 'your room is only on the second floor, if you pay €60 per day extra you will be on the 12th floor with level service.' After we said no we were then told 'if you pay €12 per day you can have a room with a view as your room doesn't have this.' We still said no as why bother with the view, the room is what we are here for. We basically felt from the moment we walked in we were treated like the poor staying somewhere unwelcoming.

Anyway, up to our room. The room itself is quite nice, reasonable size, two twin beds although we requested king, nice bathroom etc. It has been nicer than some hotels yes, but not that great compared to other 3, 4 and 5 star hotels we have experienced.

The loaction we thought was good, quite walkable to everywhere of interest.

The breakfast buffet was good also, large selection and relatively fresh.

Now unforunatley in our experience, everything else was negative, as below;
- wifi very poor in room
- robes with holes and missing rope/loop holes (which we requested be changed to a larger size anyway on 2 occassions and was not followed the through)
- no doona cover, simply laid between two sheets, which you get tangled in any way
- no deep soak bath
- the HDMI on the tv did not work (we requested it to be fixed, someone was sent up and basically said sorry can't help)
- bedisde draw on one side contains a safe so unable to store items (why was it not in the cupboard?)
- pool, spa and sauna is not free for use, charge is €17pp and is also closed on weekends, so do not plan a relaxing weekend away here hoping to use these or the massage facilities
- you can't even book a massage for the following week to ensure a booking as they are closed and recpetion doesn't look after it

There were too many negatives in our eyes to even consider returning or recommending. I am certain there is better value for money out there. I am a travel agent and would advise my clients to stay elsewhere.

Dear leahhh17,

First of all, we would like to thank you for sharing this review about your recent stay at the Meliá Madrid Princesa, and for providing us, at the same time, with your valuable feedback.

After reading your comments concerning your arrival, we would like to express our sincere apologies, as we believe that a warm and welcoming attitude is essential during the reception of our guests.

In order to guarantee the satisfaction of our clients, we have already transmitted your comments about the wifi, HDMI and bath robe to the relevant departments, for them to take the necessary steps to avoid incidents as these in the future.

Regarding to the spa, we would like to indicate that this service, although is located inside the hotel, is not managed by us, so, enjoying it, takes a supplemet. In addition, its closing days are all Sundays along the year and complete weekends on August.

Concerning the features and attributes of our rooms, we would like to apologize if these were different to what you expected.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in another occasion, and to proof that we can offer the quality of service you expect from a hotel of our category.

Best regards,
Clara Mahillo Ávila

We wanted a good hotel close to the shopping and sights in central madrid. This hotel fits the bill. We walked from the hotel to the Gran Via shopping area and the Plaza Mayor and Royal Palace. There is a Metro station next to the hotel that also can be used to get to these areas and elsewhere in Madrid. Our room and bed were OK. We found the bathroom design and plumbing fixtures, which are modern/contemporary, to be awkward and impractical. The hotel reception tried to upsell us to a different package that would have included access to the fitness area and swimming pool. Most hotels provide their guests with access to such facilities. Not this one. It wanted us to pay a significant surcharge (60 Euros for two). We passed.

Dear Tepic007,

Thank you very much for sharing your impressions about your recent stay at our hotel with the Tripadvisor readers and us.

We are glad to hear that our location helped you to enjoy our beautiful city.

Regarding the upselling, we would like to apologize if any misunderstanding occurred during the check-in process. The staff at the reception informs all the clients at their arrival about the possibility to enjoy, with an extra supplement, our exclusive The Level service that includes a superior room, private area with snacks and drinks until 11 pm, business area, free ironing service of one garment for stay, a DVD or WII console under availability, and a private check-in/out and concierge desk.

Additionally we would like to indicate that our fitness area is available for all the guests without any extra charge.

We hope to count with another opportunity to receive you at our hotel.

Best regards,

Clara Mahillo Ávila
