“Best place in Madrid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I have been to Spain many times and this is by far the best place to stay the night. Rooms are spacious, bed are very comfortable and staff is very friendly. Very good quality sleep. I stayed there 3 times and will come back

Before I moved to Madrid I went to Spain Capital every week and always stayed here...
Fantastic Food, Central Location, Friendly Staff, Big Rooms (and clean) everything you need to have a good stay, highly recommendable!

We just ended our 3 night stay here and unforunatley we were quite dissapointed.

This opinion is based on the fact we have been travelling for two months around Europe, through 3, 4 and 5 star hotels and the overall experience simply is not as good as what was expected from a hotel rated 5 stars.

This hotel I chose based on the rating, reviews and wanting a luxurious stay for the last destination on our trip. We spent too much money and received not enough value back.

The check in was quite cold. The first words after providing our resevation details were 'your room is only on the second floor, if you pay €60 per day extra you will be on the 12th floor with level service.' After we said no we were then told 'if you pay €12 per day you can have a room with a view as your room doesn't have this.' We still said no as why bother with the view, the room is what we are here for. We basically felt from the moment we walked in we were treated like the poor staying somewhere unwelcoming.

Anyway, up to our room. The room itself is quite nice, reasonable size, two twin beds although we requested king, nice bathroom etc. It has been nicer than some hotels yes, but not that great compared to other 3, 4 and 5 star hotels we have experienced.

The loaction we thought was good, quite walkable to everywhere of interest.

The breakfast buffet was good also, large selection and relatively fresh.

Now unforunatley in our experience, everything else was negative, as below;
- wifi very poor in room
- robes with holes and missing rope/loop holes (which we requested be changed to a larger size anyway on 2 occassions and was not followed the through)
- no doona cover, simply laid between two sheets, which you get tangled in any way
- no deep soak bath
- the HDMI on the tv did not work (we requested it to be fixed, someone was sent up and basically said sorry can't help)
- bedisde draw on one side contains a safe so unable to store items (why was it not in the cupboard?)
- pool, spa and sauna is not free for use, charge is €17pp and is also closed on weekends, so do not plan a relaxing weekend away here hoping to use these or the massage facilities
- you can't even book a massage for the following week to ensure a booking as they are closed and recpetion doesn't look after it

There were too many negatives in our eyes to even consider returning or recommending. I am certain there is better value for money out there. I am a travel agent and would advise my clients to stay elsewhere.

We wanted a good hotel close to the shopping and sights in central madrid. This hotel fits the bill. We walked from the hotel to the Gran Via shopping area and the Plaza Mayor and Royal Palace. There is a Metro station next to the hotel that also can be used to get to these areas and elsewhere in Madrid. Our room and bed were OK. We found the bathroom design and plumbing fixtures, which are modern/contemporary, to be awkward and impractical. The hotel reception tried to upsell us to a different package that would have included access to the fitness area and swimming pool. Most hotels provide their guests with access to such facilities. Not this one. It wanted us to pay a significant surcharge (60 Euros for two). We passed.

This Melia is just a few steps from a Metro stop, making it extremely convenient to get anywhere in Madrid, including the train station and the airport. The rooms are small but very nice, with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. The buffet breakfast is excellent, and paying extra for The Level is definitely worth it. There is food and drink (including alcohol) available every day until 11 PM at The Level, and with the Spanish way of eating dinner so late, we took advantage of this every day! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel made a 5 night business trip a pleasure, from the quality of the rooms through to the first class service in the executive lounge, not to mention the well finished bathrooms and excellent location.
The lounge and bar area is very inviting and relaxing and the breakfast service was very good.

Great wifi throughout the hotel, and plenty of office space in the rooms to carry on working in my room in the evenings.

One small issue, rather than the mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities in rooms would be more appreciated!

the hotel is general is OK.
staff is rather friendly, location is great, breakfast buffet selection is good.
room are rather boring, rather small, and the furniture is not 5 stars material.
It's like a ibis size room with a novotel design... while i was expecting something on par with a Sofitel as it's branded as a 5 stars just like Sofitels are.
so overall , while i can't say anything bad about the room, i'm not sure the value for money is good.
However the location is great. this great location might be one of the reason for me to return to this place :)
I remember coming back a bit late (maybe something like 11.30PM) and that the room service offer was rather weak.

As far as I remember nobody spoke french, but most people spoke a descent english so everything was fine:)
