“Good location, but somewhat dated in style”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2014 via mobile

Madrid was very busy during my visit and this hotel was able to fulfil our booking requirements. It is situated in a narrow side street and has little in the way of facilities. The lobby area is tiny with only 3 or 4 seats. The small breakfast room doubles as the bar, and in the evenings it has a rather gloomy appearance. In its favour, my room was clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable, although I had a great view into the meeting room of the office across the street necessitating keeping the curtains closed! There are a number of shops close by, including a branch of El Corte Ingles. There are some pleasant bars and cafés on the main road close by, but if you're looking for nightlife you will be disappointed.

Nothing to complain about. Great location. Nice, clean and comfortable room. Large variety of thing for breakfast. Metro, buses and nice restaurants nearby. I travelled alone and went around safely at night.

Arrived at the hotel, checked in and went to my room, nobody offered to help me with my heavy suitcase, which I was obviously struggling with.

When I got to my room, the smell of cigarette smoke was overbearing, both in the bathroom and in the bedroom. I went back to reception to ask to be moved to another room, there was nothing which could be done until the next night as the hotel was fully booked. I understand that the hotel is a no smoking hotel and it is not their fault that a guest has chosen to smoke in the room. However I don't understand why the cleaners didn't leave the windows open to try and get rid of the smell, I didn't arrive until almost midnight and check out is at 11:00 in the morning so there was plenty of time for the room to be aired.

Once I was moved into another room the next night, the room was clean and spacious however very basic and the beds are hard and not comfortable. Breakfast is ok, there is a reasonable choice of cheese, meats, eggs, fruit and toast. I found the staff here to be more welcoming and helpful than the gentleman who checked me in on the first night.

the location of the hotel is great if you want to do shopping, just around the corner from all of the fab shops, Gucci, Jimmy Choo....etc. also if you are doing the tourist bus, there is a stop just at the end of the road.

Apart from the issue with cigarette smoke, the rooms were clean and basic. When I asked for an iron, one was brought to my room straight away, however in the whole hotel there is no ironing board! I would have expected better than this.

If you like to camp on the floor or a wooden plank bed, then this one is for you. I give it one star because it is an enclosed space in a nice area. Other than that, don't feel bad that they didn't give you your wake up call. You don't miss anything by missing this breakfast. The coffee is okay but skip the rest. You will be happy to leave the hard, wooden headboards, the hard mattresses and the mediocre tv choices.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms!!

very nice modern hotel located in the high end Salmanca district right off calle serrrano and around the corner from the hotel villa magna. very spacious quiet rooms, very well appointed with comfortable beds flat screen tv large bathroom etc. Very inexpensive for what you get. I stayed here for 3 nights for less than one night in a comparable hotel in Rome cost me. Excellent value. Very nice breakfast, great helpful front desk staff. I would absolutely stay here again. It's just a short bus ride to the main shopping district but in this neighborhood there is every high end store you can think of. Lots of great restaurants in the area also.

Room Tip: there is no ramp for luggage at the front of the hotel and no doorman/bellhop.

For the last 15 years, the Serrano has been our hotel in Madrid. Although it may seem to some travelers old fashioned and perhaps not as fashionable as others in the Salamanca quarter, the room space, cleanliness and always friendly service, as well as the value and location are the best we've found in Madrid when one is planning a long stay and does not want to over spend in hotel rates.
It offers free WiFi in every room, a good breakfast selection and cafetería service through the day. Highly recomendable!

Room Tip: The superior rooms are suites. Great for a long stay.

A simple hotel without great luxury, with everything you need, without spoiling anything missing, very good service, and very good value.

A fully satisfactory experience: likely to repeat
