“Terrible shower”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Bad experience. So expensive. No services. Shower turning hot and cold. Bed not very clean. For sure this is the last time I come here. Four stars is incredible for this hotel. It's near from the center and it has lot of restaurants near, but it is the only good "service" that it offers.

Last May, I stayed at this hotel for the third time, traveling solo on a business trip. My recommendation is for solo travellers, for the neighborhood is lovely and safe, lots of trees and well lit at night, with plenty of restaurants, tea rooms, bars and coffee shops. Also for soccer fans, since it's quite close to SANTIAGO BERNABEU stadium, and modern shopping mall, and also very well located for people who already know the city and its transport system. In fact, if your headed for historic Madrid, you just walk 2 b locks to Paseo de la Castellana, and take a bus or the metro. If you're on business, it's also a few blocks' walk to Ave. Bravo Murillo where you can take a bus to Plaza Castilla's business center.
There is also a taxi stand just walking off the hotel door, where you can take a cab day or night.
Airport not far away.
Rooms are large and quiet, and bathrooms have been renovated, though the style and furniture are quite old-fashioned, which is OK with me for I'm more interested in rates, location, gentleness of staff than in amenities.
Very clean property and extremely kind and helpful staff.
I will certainly choose this hotel again on any future visit to Madrid.

Room Tip: As a rule, rooms are all quiet, even those facing the street, which are more lively.

Stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip.

Room was smelly and tired.

WiFi worked sometimes.

Only plus point is that it's 500m from Real Madrid's Football Stadium.

For those who rated it as excellent ... either you've never stayed in a nice hotel before or you're family of the owners.

Although they declare availability of wi-fi throughout the hotel, it's not always working properly. The fron desk staff is not always helpful. The choice of breakfests is quite limited. Forget about any special view behing your window!

I stayed here for 4 days on a business trip and found it to be pleasant and functional without being anything special.
The rooms were a good size for a city hotel and clean. The decor especially in the bathroom was a bit dated and gave the impression that it had last been renovated about 20 years ago - but everything was clean and functioned.
The breakfast was ok, although a little dull - lots of breads, meats and some cereal, nothing much else. The coffee was not good.
The staff on the front desk were helpful and proactive.
If you like walking, take the road outside the hotel towards the city to find loads of bars, restaurants and tapas places within about a mile.

Room Tip: My room looking out the back of the hotel was quiet and calm

The Gran Atlanta is a good choice for access to metro, both to Barajas Airport and Madrid City center. Located in a business and upper middle class neighborhood, the hotel is nothing special, the walls thin, exposing guests to the conversations of neighbors and hallway chatter. The breakfast was acceptable. I found the breakfast room host abrupt and somewhat obtrusive, and the cloth napkins provided smelled absolutely revolting, although they appeared to be clean were pressed. The odor combined with the very dark green color convinced me not to touch them, much less use them for the purpose napkins are generally provided. As a stopover to or from the airport and escape from the hustle and bustle of the historic district, the Gran Atlanta is a good choice, particularly if one relies on public transportation..

Room Tip: Our room was on the back side of the building, overlooking a courtyard shared by surrounding residen...

The hotel is very close to the station "Nuevos Ministerios" which allows you to access it directly from the airport, and to reach the center of Madrid in 20 minutes (taking into account all the walking inside the station). It is on a street that carries not much traffic. Staff is polite and helpful, and they do their job efficiently
Despite that, the hotel needs a good updating so one can feel there is something different from a 3-star hotel, even 2. It is like entering back into the 80s or 70s, however, make no mistake since everything works as it did back then. Single rooms are very small, and the bedding felt quite dusty. At least there is no insulation problem, on the contrary, windows had to be left open to let air enter.
Breakfast was abundant and well presented. However, they open strictly until 7.30am. For business visitors, this is not early enough if one needs to ride the metro to the outskirts of Madrid. If it could start at 7am, would be great.
There is wifi in the entire hotel, and works adequately. TV has a rather poor choice of channels, the safe is the type where you have to put a coin to get your key.
