“Amazing location, fantastic value for money.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

You can't really fault this hotel. It's not fancy, but it's very nice.

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the location is incredible - right in the heart of Madrid.

There was free wifi, the rooms had a good selection of free toiletries, and there was plenty of tourist information available at reception.

Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English.

Most of the attractions, including shops, galleries, museums and gardens, are within walking distance, and there are some really nice bars and restaurants close by. The airport is also just a short taxi ride away.

I doubt you could find better for the same price. I'd definitely stay here again - I doubt I'd even look for a different hotel if I was returning to Madrid.

This is my second stay at this property and it just keeps getting better. I am on the 5th floor this time so it's a little quieter but this is downtown Madrid, after all. The problem with the excess use of cleaning products and consequent fumes has been remedied. The room is quite clean and large by European standards. All amenities. WiFi works quite well. Breakfast buffet is still ample and wonderful and staff are very friendly. And they've added a line of take out foods and drinks you can buy from the front desk at all times. Great for international travelers whose stomachs aren't on the Spanish time zone yet and for those of us who don't want to wander around looking for a quick dinner late at night. Another plus in that regard is the blackout curtains in the rooms. Free newspapers to read with breakfast. The only freebie I miss this time around is the leisure guide but it could be that this is no longer being published in print. I think about trying out different hotels in Madrid but Lope de Vega gives me no reason to change. It feels like home and I'm glad to be here again.

Arrived early from airport ( €5 on bus to city centre) easy walk to hotel. Room was ready. Able to freshen up before day of sightseeing then a meal in nearby restaurant . checked out after excellent breakfast, left my luggage safely in hotel, more sightseeing, collected luggage in evening ti return to airport and onward travel.
Could not have been better, Clean , helpful, and friendly

Clean, but not updated bathrooms. Staff helpful but did not have a Madrid Michelein guide or any other restaurant or tour guides. Breakfast good, better than average. Good location near tapas bars, Prado Museum and Thyssen museum. Would rate 3 1/2 stars.

I stayed here with my family for a week and the hotel was in a great location. As well as having the museums close by, the stops for the hop on hop off bus (both routes) are only minutes away. The train station is about a 10 minute walk. We used the airport express bus and got off at Plaza de Cibeles, which again was about a 10 minute walk. We also used the metro stations Anton Martin and Banco de Espana are again about 7 minutes away. We did not have breakfast in the hotel as there are places near by including a Mccafe which serves a continental breakfast.

The walk to Plaza Mayor and Puerto de Sol are about a 15 minute walk, whilst the beginning of the Gran Via is minutes away.

The hotel is clean and comfortable and generally, friendly staff. They also have a place to store your luggage after you check out if you have late flight etc. I would stay here again.

Wonderful location, in front of ¨Museo del Prado¨, the room was very well furnished, very clean. Very good experience, we stayed there 3 nights and moved to see Madrid by foot. The staff was helpful, but we didn´t try the restaurant or pool.
