“Enviable location for an affordable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

I stayed at this hotel during a business trip to Madrid - would go again for a private trip. It is centrally located but quiet. It does not look like much from the outside but inside it is modern and stylish. The rooms are of good size, clean and comfortable. It has a very nice bar with goods viewa of the gran via on the first floor. This is also where breakfast is served. The buffet breakfast was varied and tasty.

Enjoy!

I spent 1 night at the Vincci Capitol during a recent business trip. Centrally located I was able to walk to restaurants and attractions. El Prado is only 15 minutes walking from the hotel, 10 minutes to Plaza Mayor. The room was a good size and clean. Modern bathroom with everything you need. The only down size are the dark corridor. From the elevator to the room you really walk in the dark! I managed to spend a bit of time on the balcony with panoramic view on the last floor: superb! The breakfast is very good, you can eat all sort of food from sweets to fruits to cheeses... Homeless people were sleeping at the entrance door, but 'd like not to make a big deal out of it: it is Madrid! I recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to stay central. Good value for money.

If there were an award for being "close to everything", the Vincci Capitol hotel would get it. It's not necessarily where you want to be, but it's a quick walk from Puerta del Sol, Plaza del Espana, Plaza Mejor, theater houses, movie cinemas, shopping, restaurants, etc. It's also on a major street overlooking a metro station so you easily can get to places like the Museo del Prado. It sort of feels like the "Times Square" of Madrid.

The hotel itself is unique as well -- it's shaped like an isosceles triangle (as can be seen from user photos) and it feels that way on the inside. The rooms are cleverly "squeezed" into the outside walls but perhaps as a result, they're tiny even by European standards. My room felt reminiscent of being on a yacht. That said, it was modernly appointed and had a balcony overlooking the plaza below. Those without a balcony can go to the observation deck on the 9th floor for a similar view. As an aside, I happened to be there during an austerity protest and was able to observe the masses marching down Grand Via from eight floors up. That's about as close as I wanted to get to the riot police which were omnipresent.

One unexpected plus was that the room was *reasonably* quiet. I expected the opposite given the location and the proclivity of the locals to party in the streets until the wee hours ;-)

One downside is that there's no real restaurant -- just a bar hosting an expensive breakfast buffet -- and there's no lobby to speak of whatsoever. That said, whether on holiday or breaking away from a business meeting, you're likely to spend most of your time enjoying the surrounds.

Service was reasonably friendly but not terribly efficient. Don't plan on checking in early. Reserve ahead if you want to use the spa as it looks like it's designed for one person at a time.

Note that Google Street Maps currently shows the area as being under construction but as of mid-November 2012, there was no major construction in the area.

Dear guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write your opinions and feedback regarding your stay in our hotel. We are pleased to know that you were satisfied with our location and our views and that our rooms were quiet and comfortable. Surely, our guest´s satisfaction is our reason to be and what we in Vincci Hotels work for every day.
We regret, however, that some aspects of your stay were not entirely to your liking. We will bear in mind your suggestions in order to improve the service we offer our guests.
We are sorry as well, that you were not completely satisfied with the size of our rooms. In this regard we would like to mention that we have available six different types of rooms (standard, standard with terrace, standard with Jacuzzi, superior, skylight and junior suite) so as to completely adapt ourselves to the tastes and needs of our guests. We would also like to clarify that all of our rooms meet the Spanish regulations for four star hotels. In any case, those guests who are not happy with the room they have been assigned can say so and always in so far as it is possible we will offer a change of room, trying at all times to make sure their stay is comfortable and enjoyable.
Regarding our breakfast buffet, we would like to clarify that the price is 15.40 Euros per person (VAT included) and in order to offer our guests variety and quality our selection includes breakfast products includes fruit, vegetables, omelet, eggs, bacon, salads, cheese, cold meats, coffee, chocolate, juice, churros, pastries, cakes, yogurts and diet products, among many others.
On another topic, we would like to point out that those guests who wish to have a space outside their rooms to chat, read or wait for somebody can use one of our two terraces located on the seventh and ninth floors and open from 11:00 to 23:00. They can also use our bar without needing to consume or buy any food or drinks.
Regarding our spa, we would like to only mention that it requires a prior reservation so as to guarantee to our guests a completely intimate and private space. As with all our urban spas, its uniqueness and what makes it special is that this facility can be used at the same time by four people, only and always when these four have made a reservation exclusively together.
We are at your disposal for whatever you need.
Regards,

The most valuable asset of this hotel is its location. Very centrally in the midle of the Gran view which is the most beatifull place of Madrid.
beside that the hotel is average, the rooms are with a normal size, the service is regular but be aware that will charge you for every litle thing, including to watch TV. They have a terrace which is not big or extraordinary but has a great view over the Gran Via. The recepcionists were very friendly and helpfull also.

Perfect location, awesome views, crazy skilight room. Kitsch pop decor in a very special room with unique location. Takes a mastermind to find out the exact use for all the hanging tubes. A great place to celebrate. Carpet needs a change. As per the rest of the room, I'm afraid cheap materials don't age that well. Kitsch-pop is fun but needs updating. Registration procedures seem a bit streched out.

The location of the hotel is just perfect. Very centrally located, next to many main streets.

But the ventilation system for the rooms is not good The rooms are smelly.

A hotel that I would not suggest when visiting Madrid.
