Apparently customer service is not important at this property. I was part of a 40 person tour group that stayed here on Oct 06 and Oct 07. The hotel A/C was shut off and room temp was 80 degrees. Reason told to us and our tour director was that a number of guests complained that it was too cold. Each room had a thermostat with adjustable controls for the temperature so that resaon was a total lie . Front desk staff stated that the manager made the decision and that he was off for the weekend and could not be contacted. They suggest that we open the windows. The hotel had a wedding party that spilled out to the terrace below many of our open windows, firecrackers exploding at 12:30 a.m., alot of noisy attendees, etc. Also the t.v. was small and pracatically mounted on the ceiling...difficult to watch. Breakfast buffet was good, hotel location is not bad.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights in April this year. It was a friend's 30th birthday weekend so we didn't choose it but we weren't disappointed.

The staff were polite and very friendly and the room was clean, comfortable and not too small. We didn't have breakfast because we always like to eat out for breakfast, not because we had heard otherwise! (Try the Samar Kandar in Atocha Station for brunch.) We did drink at the bar though and just like everywhere else in Madrid, we got free nibbles with our beers.

Although it is not right in the centre of Madrid, it isn't too far from Atocha Station and it has a few tapas bars and restaurants nearby, where you get a chance to practice your Spanish.

You can walk to the Prado and the Retiro if you want to - they're only about a mile away. Otherwise, travelling into the centre was easy enough on the metro after a short 10-minute walk (especially if you find the shortcut up the stairs as you walk towards Atocha). In any case, I noticed that there was always a taxi waiting outside.

I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we had to stay here again!

Not a bad hotel, except that several of its front office staff do not speak or understand English properly. As well, one cannot get a tour planned at this hotel. Hotel and rooms very clean.

Our tour group stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our Highlights of Spain and Portugal tour. Both mornings the hotel was very unreliable with wake up calls. It was either too early, too late or not at all according to the tourists I talked with. The breakfast was nice BUT the hot food was served much later than the cold selections, and was not even hot! Tables were not cleared and set quickly enough, a lack of sufficient staff. Our room phone was not working and service responded 6 hours later. Our room safe was locked in the open position, and although reported on the first day, service did not arrive to correct the situation. The hotel is clean and nicely appointed but located a little distant from the main attractions other than the museum, and required some form of public transit to reach most of the favoured sites like the Plaza Mayor neighbourhood.

I booked this hotel through the Hotels website for the amazing price of $90 / night (taxes included). The hotel is terrific, with clean attractive public spaces, and a great room with brand new beds and a very nice bathroom. Hotel restaurant was also very nice and a good bargain. Breakfast buffet was 10 euros and good. Hotel in rather sterile section of town, but only a pleasant 15 minute walk to Prado museums.
