“Excellent Room and Bed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

The best bed in all our trip through europe, great view, the room has the perfect size and the service is outstanding. A bit far from downtown, but the metro is a block away. Bad thing we couldnt include bed and breakfast because it would have been too expensive

Dear guests, we thank you very much for your comments, and we are happy to know you enjoyed your stay in our hotel. Madrid has not a unique city center, our hotel is walking distance from Plaza de España, Gran Vía, etc. and as you say Argüelles station (underground) is just around the corner very convenient to visit other areas of interest. Awaiting the pleasure of welcoming you once again in a very near future. Best regards.

The hotel is centrally located and was very clean. Our room had double desks and plenty of space with extremely comfortable bed and pillows. Ahhhhh!
Shopping at the "Cortes Ingles" is practically attached to the hotel. The central historic plazas and museums can be reached by a 10 minute taxi ride or public transportation.
Definitely a very good value.

This is my second stay since my last review of this hotel. When I was here in March of this year I had a room on the lower floor. The downside was that you could have pretty substantial street noise based upon the commercial nature of the neighborhood around the hotel.
The hotel is not perfect but it is very good value for what you get. I learned a couple of things I did not know this last time. When I came back in November, I told the front desk that I would like a higher room because of the noise the prior time on the lower floor. I had the bellman help with my bags and the room I was given was small and right next to the elevator. I usually take the rooms as they come but the idea of working for a week out of this cell was too much. Since I was checking in at 9:00 A.M after a flight from America there was not much open. The bellman suggested I look at the "new" rooms. Apparently, about six months ago the hotel refurbished a wing that I did not even no existed off the main lobby. The rooms were 15 Euros more but had free internet. Since the Internet costs about 11 Euros in the old section, it seemed a good deal. The new section had large rooms all redone in what I would call modern minimalist. It had desk along one wall with the TV set over the middle of the desk. It was not the best location for the TV as it was at an angle to the bed and relatively small and a fair distance from the bed. If you are working be careful about the "free internet". The hotel uses a commercial service call "Kubi". You have to get password every 24 hours for the WIFI. I had a lot of trouble the third day and spent a lot of time talking to Kubi's tech support. Finally, I ran some download speed checks and found that the speed was throttled down to dial-up speed 128k download and 42k upload. I complained and got a new password that gave 1.4 megabytes download and 300k upload speeds. it was very frustrating tracking this issue down. So if you use the "free Internet" be careful if you need bandwidth. I never had this problem when I was paying for the service.
Overall, I still am going to stay here when I come back. You can buy an "abono turistico" ticket and ride the Metro from the airport to the hotel and use the magnificent Metro system to get around for a week. (Madrid is 50th largest metropolitan area but has the 4th largest Metro system in the world). Also, the stores around Argüelles where the hotel is located is also a big plus. Finally, the pricing on the rooms is excellent considering the gym access which is free.

Room Tip: The lower rooms in the hotel can be noisy based upon the commercial location next to Corte Ingles de...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

I stayed in two different rooms in the Husa Princesa. Both were standard rooms, but were exceptionally large for a European hotel. The rooms were well appointed, clean and modern, though not luxurious. The rooms were quite clean and quiet. Very good location, with a nice department store, supermarket and Starbucks in the same building. Some rooms have a great view of the city. The only negative is that the rooms were a little worn around the edges; it has obviously been a few years since the renovations. I liked this place a lot and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south have a view, but have street noise. Rooms on the north are quiet but no view.

Trip booked through Groupon/Easyjet. Hotel located within 100 meters of a Metro Station. The Madrid Metro is quick, clean and very efficient and will get you around the city fast. The hotel was grand, rooms well appointed and the breakfast massive! (Tremendous selection).

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip. It was about 35 minutes from the airport (Eur35) by taxi. Location was convenient for the city centre (short taxi ride). Breakfast was good, however, for a 4 star hotel it is in need of some work in the rooms. The towels are looking worn, as was the carpet and bathroom equipment. Although the bed was comfortable, the mattress could do with an upgrade.

There is a Starbucks on the corner, and 5 minutes away was a great restaurant called El Pimiento Verde. Definitely worth a visit.
