4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

This hotel is well suited to tourists exploring Madrid.
It is close to the major tourist attractions, with most within walking distance. Local tapas bars and restaurants are of good quality.
The staff at the hotel are friendly and obliging. They were very helpful with advice concerning transport and restaurants.
When we booked we were not aware that smoking is still permitted in hotels. Our first room smelt of stale smoke. The next day we were moved to a non smoking floor.
The rooms are spacious, well appointed, the beds large and comfortable and the showers first rate.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much indeed for your kind review. I hope it will help our potential guests to make sure that they are doing the right decision in the moment of making a reservation in our hotel. That is why we feel very grateful with you. Regarding the smoke smell in the first room, please accept our sincere apologies. After the stay of a guest who is been smoking we usually send curtains to our Dry Cleaning provider, but it is clear that in this occasion it was not possible (probably the hotel was fully booked). We look forward to seeing you soon. Best regards.

Loved the layout and space thus provided in this hotel. We had interior room, so no view but very quiet which allowed for a much needed siesta. Location good for the price. Walking distance to all museums and Atocha train station.

Fantastic shower (no tub) with two shower heads! Pillows need improvement.

TV selection great and learned easily how to change language on channels (nice feature).
Front desk was especially helpful with ideas.

No real room service, but takeaway available from limited menu in restaurant downstairs, which proved more limited than advertised.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your kind review. Regarding the pillows, let us inform you that we recently changed the provider and we are currently changing the pillows (the low one is not as thin and the high one is not as thick). I hope you will enjoy them in your next trip to Madrid. Best regards from Madrid.

Dear guest,

We cannot make any kind of objection to your wonderful and extremely kind review. And we do not find the appropriate words to express our gratitude for it. Thank you especially for those words referred to our Staff. Of course, it will be a pleasure to see you again soon in our hotel. Best regards from Spain.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in June 2014 and we cannot fault the place. We had initially booked a standard room but this had an unusual view of an internal courtyard type area, and there was very little natural light with just a view of other room windows. We immediately asked to upgrade to a room with an external window and the staff were very helpful and had us moved in no time. Our new room looked out onto the main street, but its twin sliding doors meant it was completely sound proofed. The curtains allowed little light to seep through so we were able to get a sound night’s sleep with a lovely lie in every night we were there with no disturbances. The room was a good enough size and the bathroom was good, with a lovely drench head shower. We couldn't find any English speaking TV channels on the TV even though the guide in the room suggested we could, however this didn't bother us as we were not there to watch TV.

In terms of the location it is perfect. We bought a 3 day travel pass but found we didn't really need to use it because most of the things we wanted to see and do were within walking distance! The lovely Plaza Mayor is a short walk, as is the Reina Sofia Museum – and we also walked to the beautiful Park Retiro (a longer but easily achievable distance if you like walking). There is a convenience store right next to the hotel where you can stock up on water and snacks to avoid the hotel mini bar prices, and a lovely bakery for morning pastries if you do not opt for the hotel breakfast (we didn’t).

The pièce de résistance of the hotel though is the lovely roof terrace and hot tub. We spent a few hours every morning up there enjoying the sun before sightseeing in the afternoon and it was fabulous. When it got too hot, you can cool down in the small but perfectly refreshing hot tub (not hot in terms of heat)!

All in all we felt we couldn’t have chosen a better hotel and we had a fab time staying there and exploring the wonderful city of Madrid. We would highly recommend for all.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an external view!

Dear guest,

It is always great news to receive a review like yours. Thank you very much on behalf of everyone in the staff. A little piece of advice for your next stay with us: do not miss the opportunity of trying our wonderful breakfast buffet. For a very reasonable price you will get a huge variety of hot meals, pastries, toasts, fresh fruits, cold cuts, different kind of cakes, the very typical "churros con chocolate", fresh squizzed oranges and a long etcetera. Once again, thank you very much for your kindness. Best regards.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in June. When we arrived late at night, the receptionist told us that our room is no longer available. Then she offered a so called "upgrade" to a better room. The offered room was on the first floor, facing a noisy street and I can never consider it an upgrade. My husband couldn't sleep the first night and we decided to leave the hotel next day in the morning. However, the next day, they changed the room, and this time to a very lovely and quite room on top floor. the room was very comfortable and very nice decorated, and the bathroom was very clean. Breakfast was not so good with just few choices. The location of hotel is absolutly great, close to many attraction of madrid. We really enjoyed our stay in beautiful city of Madrid. I recommend this hotel, however, don't forget to ask for a room on upper floors, and avoid the first floor specially street facing rooms.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much indeed for your detailed review. Regarding the room on the first night, we are very sorry for the inconvenience (we understand that exterior rooms are not the most appropriate if you are especially sensitive to noise). Once again, thank you very much for your kind review. Best regards from Madrid.

We arrived at this hotel early in the morning, before we could check in. So, the staff happily stored our luggage in a secure location until we could check in. They also let us "rest" in a clean, comfortable lobby area, tucked away from the front lobby. I really like the staff at this hotel. One gal, I don't remember her name went out of her way, to print directions for me to the next hotel. Also, the hotel is located in an excellent part of Madrid. Close to many of the main attractions, as well as excellent restaurants, bars, and markets. I would stay here again, and it's highly recommended. The rooftop pool was quite nice, although we didn't get a chance to use it. We had a room away from the street, facing into a narrow courtyard. There was no noise to disturb us at all. Best hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the narrow courtyard is nice if worried about the noise from the street. No noise here.
