This is definitely a hotel I would recommend to anyone visiting Madrid.

The room may not be huge but it is comfortable, extremely well kept, clean and well equipped. There are sufficient pillows and cushions unlike some other hotels. The service staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

I was supposed to check out after three nights' stay but I extended another night before departing Madrid for Barcelona. After a week in Barcelona, my plan was to return to Madrid, stay the night with a friend before flying off to Asia the next day. The staff was more than happy to help look after my bags for that one day even though I would no longer be registered as their guest. What great after sales service!!! In the end I decided to just book another night with them instead of staying with my friend. In that one trip to Madrid, I returned to Catalonia Atocha 3 times - simply because it was like 'home' away from home.

As for location, it is almost accessible to all the major sites and places with just 10-15 minutes walk or by Metro that is a minute away. And yes....the hotel staff willingly and patiently showed me how to get to these places. You will enjoy meeting Andrea, Jesus, Laura, Lori, Anabel and Tanya, just to name a few! Definitely Catalonia Atocha.
