“Small museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2015 NEW

This small museum didn't seem near as overwhelming as the others along Paseo Prada. Quiet and laid back. Walked here from Atocha Stn and it was quite lovely.

“NO FACILITIES FOR VISITORS CAN'T WALK EASILY, FULL AND ONLY STEPS EVERYWHERE”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2015 NEW

My friend, senior and lovely lady feel so disapointed when couldn't visit the Sorolla House that we couldn't believe!
Such an important city Madrid, such a museum belonging to the Culture Minister... that even didn't ask about ramps or lifts... as we supposed they got but.. don't!
Even a nice staff woman explained that even his father never could visit her in the work for the same reason,
Unbeliable an disapointing

“EXCELLENTLY CURATED”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2015 NEW

Great curation. Great Space. Set up very close to what actually the house was during the lifetime of the painter. Makes you feel like you could actually see Sorolla come in any minute.

“Small but superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2015 NEW

Lovers of impressionism and plein aire colorists will be delighted with the discovery of the Sorolla Museum. Joaquin Sorolla's fame has somehow slipped on the international stage but his skill as a painter, the exquisite paintings of his family, his pencil drawings and small paintings on cards, wood, etc. demonstrate a skill that is equal to Cassat or others known for the same period. On view now (March 2015) are his works at the various beaches of France and Spain where he and his upper middle class family vacationed. His home, now used for the museum is, in itself, worth a visit for those who wish to know a bit more how families lived in Madrid in the late 19th and early 20th century. A huge surprise and not to be missed
