“back to the 70' s & noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Perfect location, friendly staff, clean, wifi OK. But, .... the room was really small and because it laid at the street side there was a lot of noise coming from the young people in the street as well as from toilets flushing and bath taking from others guests. 70's look - there was obviously not much changed since the start.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back

Dear Customer;

Firstly thank you for your time to have your say.
I feel that his experience at the hotel was not expected. We are in cash renewal of our facilities and services. One of our greatest values is the location and the tranquility that gives us being in a pedestrian street just off Gran Vía.
We hope for a new opportunity and visit us again.
regards

Right on the Gran Via, what's not to like? The rooms were pretty standard, two twins passing for a "double bed" but overall it was clean, comfortable, and right in the heart of things. We could easily walk to the sites or to the metro. There are a million things to do around. The staff was friendly, the wifi worked well in our 4th floor room, and there's an airport shuttle. We didn't take breakfast since there are so many options nearby. Great for a weekend in Madrid.

Well, I am kinda surprised about the rest of the reviews about this Hotel.
I spent 3 nights there and it was great. Ok, maybe not great but very good for the nightly rate.
First of all, the location is fantastic. We visited the city by foot as everything was close and convenient. If you prefer to take public transportation, there are at least 3 or 4 metro stations very close by and taxis are always available in the area as well.
The rooms are certainly small, so I don't recommend this Hotel if you are bigger than average or if you have a lot of luggage. Also, I do not recommend to take the 9,00€ breakfast since you will find a choice of bakeries, Starbucks, MacDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, you name it, only a few minutes from the Best Western.
The only negative thing I can say is that I had requested a non-smoking room when I booked and was instead given a smoker's room at check-in. At some point in the evening I could smell smoke in my room, and I think it was coming through the A/C....
I agree that some of the rooms overlook a wall, but it depends on the room type and you don't really go to Madrid to spend the day in your room, right?!
On the other hand the place is spotless and you can comfortably take a shower without plastic sandals (I usually do!!!) or walk barefoot in the room.
Conclusion: I would definitely recommend this Hotel for its lively (yet quiet) and very safe location and for the kindness of its personnel.

Room Tip: If you book well in advance, make sure that you get the room type you requested. the hotel is pretty...

Since I was planning a weekend in Madrid and this was my first time in Spain's capital city, I was looking for a very central hotel at reasonable prices. Hotel Los Condes was just perfect. Additionally, the "Calle de Los Libreros" (booksellers' street) is a pedestrian street and therefore rather quiet, allowing a good night sleep even just steps from the Gran Via, with its countless shops, bars and restaurants. And there actually are many book shops! The metro station "Callao" is a few meters away, and most areas of Madrid city center are within walking distance. The room was reasonably sized, the bed was ok (I booked a double single use), there is a lift and the staff is very nice and helpful. There is an Internet Point with printer, and a small breakfast room. Breakfast is rather average, but there's all you may need. I would definitely stay again at this hotel.

Room Tip: If you book a single room, go with the double single use. Single rooms have a single bed and are sma...

I spent only one night here and it was just what I nedeed.

Location: very good location, close to Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Espana.
also very close to 2 metro stations ( Callao and Santo Domingo )

Hotel and rooms were very clean. Rooms and bathrooms are small but the one we had was very clean and the furniture was in a good shape, walls looked recently painted.

Breakfast: not very reach but good.

Stuff: ok, could have been better.

This hotel offers good location, close to Gran Via. It has stairs at the entrance and nobody helps with the lugagge. Room and bath old fashioned. Good central heating! Not in the average of the Best Western.

Room Tip: Only for sleeping a couple of days in the heart of Madrid.

Stayed five nights in August. Room and bathroom ok for size; outlook internal courtyard. Aircon efficient but a bit noisy. Wi fi and access to various TV channels appreciated by youngest. Think most features have been cited already-lift on the small side (nice cool stairs if you didn't mind) and breakfast fair enough. Staff helpful and efficient in meeting requests (early calls/taxis) or queries about room. (Roomsafe uses and can eat euros.) With some staff it helped to speak a little Spanish as their English was limited and in one case non existent though he was usually working with an English speaker.
Good location and only heard a distant sound from the street on the Saturday night. One or two guests more noisy coming and going but that's standard.
