“Beautiful Hotel, Centrally Located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

This is a gorgeous hotel and is very central with many major sites within walking distance. The breakfast at the hotel is amazing and the people are generally friendly. I will say the only drawback was when we needed a sitter to watch the baby monitor for us after our son went to bed so my wife and i could sneak out for dinner, they charged us 30 Euro an HOUR to watch the monitor of a sleeping baby. I life in NY-- we dont even pay anywhere near those rates in NY so i have a hard time believing that those prices are even somewhat legitimate in Spain. Rest was good.

“A very cosy and comfortable hotel in a perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

The location of the hotel is just perfect. It is in the middle of so called Barrio de las letras, surrounded by very cute cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and other good hotels. It's very close to Prado and walking distance to other main attractions. If you enjoy walking, you will not need a taxi at all. And the area is worth wondering around, you might discover real gems.
My first impression of the hotel itself was: "it is too simple for a 5* hotel". Most probably, the lobby and rooms won't surprise you with an outstanding design or very luxurious amenities (by the way, Bulgary bath amenities were disappointing, I regretted that I didn't take my shampoo) but when you stay in the hotel for a while, you start enjoying it much more. It has a very special atmosphere and if you pay attention on details, you appreciate quality and some very good ideas. I would recommend to book a room on the upper floor, a wooden mansard roof makes it really cosy, or two-floor Junior Suites which are very nice and spacious.
The stuff which really makes a hotel is well trained, polite, professional and helpful. We didn't have any issues at all during our stay.
I think it's a very good value for money and a perfect option for a weekend break.

“Five Star Hotel and worth every penny”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We had a wonderful experience here with our family of 5. The staff was very warm and friendly, the rooms were very modern and comfortable, and the service was impeccable. The staff was so accommodating and helpful. We had two rooms and both were lofts, which was the first time I had been in such a hotel. We had no problems, but this would not be a place for small children, elderly, obese, or anyone with a disability. The stairs going up to the bedroom loft were treacherously slippery and narrow. I would have been a bit nervous if I had to get up in the middle of the night and head down the stairs to the bathroom. In any case, we didn't have any problems, but these rooms aren't for everyone. I also don't know if the hotel has any different layouts. The only negative I can report is our room faced the street and the partygoers from the adjacent square kept me up till 5:30 two of the three mornings. This was not the fault of the hotel, but I wanted to note it here so that a side street or back of hotel room can be requested. Also, the weekend nights were worse than the weekday night. The breakfast buffet was amazing...a huge layout of traditional Spanish meats and cheeses, in addition to the more typical cereals, breads, yogurts, etc. They even offered several non dairy options: walnut milk, soy and almond milks. The hotel was within walking distance of El Prado, Reina Sophia, Royal Palace and the huge Retiro Park.

“Elegant but a bit cold”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The hotel has a central and excellent location .
It' s an elegant and well-organized hotel. I found it a bit cold, perhaps more suited to a business trip.
My room very comfortable and spacious.
The buffet was delicious and rich.

“Great hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stayed in a superior room on the 5th floor for 3 nights and it was worth every penny. The hotel is located within 5-10 mins walk from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol and you can easily walk to the major attractions such as the Palacio Real and the three most important museums (Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia) as well as the Retiro Park. The surrounding streets and squares are full of life and color and the hotel building itself is amazing.

The room itself was very modern spacious, although it was facing the atrium in the inside of the building so there was not a lot of natural light coming in. The amenities were great and the superior room includes the add-on wellness (mimos) menu, from which one can order special pillows, candles, bath salts and even an iPod dock, books and board games. All included in the room rate.

Breakfast was really good too with a wide range of offerings for all tastes. The hotel's restaurant is a modern tapas bar supevised by a renowned chef, which means that room service is very cool, but the restaurant itself can get rather crowded especially on Friday and Saturday evening.

Room Tip: Rooms on the inside facing the atrium have poor natural light.
