“Good location, very basic hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to/from other cities via the train station.
The hotel is very close to train and bus station and easy to find.

It reminds me more of a hostel than a hotel.

The room are very basic. Hopefully you are very comfortable with the people you are traveling with as the bathrooms have no doors, ie. Completely visible to the rest of the room, including the toilet.

I would not consider this a clean room, many dark hairs all over (my husband and I are very blonde).

For the price the hotel is ok. The area seems to cater more towards backpackers than to young professionals that also want to be economical. However this is also what I would expect based on the proximity to the train station.

My sister and i stayed here, perfect location to the main train station and metro which we used loads. Rooms were clean and tidy and modern. Great sushi place next doors. Had hot drinks and biscuits if required. We sat on the roof top a couple if times. Took a few drinks up there and soaked in the sun. I have nothing negative to say other than thank you to the hotel

Stayed four days in the lead up to Easter. Very clean room - basic decor but comfortable and perfect for a low budget mini break. Staff very helpful. Coffee and biscuits available at reception area all day. Short walk to Metro, Retiro Park and main train station. Some decent little pubs and tapas bars in the area too. Strongly recommend.

We stayed there for couple nights, the room was pretty specious and very clean. The location is amazing, close to all the main attractions. The metro line and bus stops are on walking distance. There are all kinds of restaurants surrounding the hotel.

The bathrooms don't have a door, we didn't have an issue with it. The noise level is at a minimum to none from the street. Overall I'll recommend this place to stay, the staff can be much nicer though.

This hotel was perfect for my overnight in Madrid -- flew into the airport and was leaving the next morning by train. It is Euro-spartan, very white, no frills, but the bed was very comfortable and the towels were soft!! Filtered water, coffee, and tea available 24 hrs in the lobby. Like other reviewers, I found the wifi very fast and easy to use in my room. The computers in the lobby were a bit slower. The staff is extremely helpful and were great to work with by email and in person. You can walk to the Prado, the Regia Sophia, and several other great museums.. as well as some excellent Tapas bars AND to the Atocha Train station. If you take one of the "Yellow" Express buses from the airport, it is very inexpensive (5E) and they take you right to the Atocha station; the hotel is then a 10 minute walk that I navigated pretty easily with massive jet lag. For food, ask in the lobby for directions to the El Brillante tapas bar which is iconic, and very close.

Room Tip: My room was across from the elevator and I didn't really notice the noise... in the morning, tho...

Stylish, brilliant location, great wifi, unlimited free good coffee. Spacious room, comfy bed, good bathroom, free use of laptops in reception. V nice staff.
During our stay they painted a wall in the mainly-white reception spruce green, and didn't cut in the edges, which looked messy. This I fear reflects an amateurish attitude. Corridors need dead lightbulbs replaced and carpets cleaned or replaced. Yet they changed our sheets daily, a waste of money and effort.
I will come back anyway and will gladly pay more if it's better maintained.
BTW there are excellent cafes and restaurants nearby.

This is my third stay in this hotel in the last couple of years and it has not disappointed me ever. Although it changed its name some time ago ( it was formerly known as Chic&Basic Atocha, a very good description of what it offers, inexpensive and cool ) it keeps being a friendly and great value place for budget travelers who are looking for a comfortable and quiet stay.

The hotel and the rooms are decorated in a sort of minimalistic Scandinavian IKEA style: lots of warm whites, spacious rooms and nice wooden floor.

Excellent location in one the most important transport hubs of Madrid: Atocha train station. Easy access to the station ( 5 walking minutes ), the Metro and the buses connecting with the airport and with many other parts of Madrid. Ideally if you are in transit and want to grab some rest before heading to the airpot or somewhere else by train. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby and 10 minutes walk to the museums area with the impressive Museo del Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen- Bornemisza Collection.

Staff was helpful with request and even offered some maps and explain us a couple of questions we had. In my last stay we had a problem with the TV and the kind receptionist changed our room to another one.
Rooms facing the street can be a little noisy but colourful. It´s up to you but if you are a light sleeper I would recommend booking an interior room. 100% calm!

Nice rooftop terrace to smoke, rest and take a look at Madrid´s roofs

Good wifi and free tea, coffee, fruits and biscuits throughout the day in the lobby.

Good choice if travelling in a budget what want some kind of comodity.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street can be a little noisy but colourful. It´s up to you but if you are a light s...
