I went to this restaurant with a group of 5 friends in the month of April 2012. It was the seventh or eighth time I repeated this place, but I wont go back anymore. (I live in Madrid)
It was a dinner daily and the restaurant was at half capacity occupancy. They took 10 minutes to take note, and 40 to serve the starters (50 minutes waitting!!!!)
The embarrassed waiter offered us olives and canapes to alleviate the wait. In no time we receive an apology or explanation.
Main courses were two fish, squid and beef tenderloin for two people for a price of 44 € (0.7 kg?). When the waiter brought the dish of meat at the table, we were stunned. We asked if that course was for two and the waiter replied yes. A simple steak, with only five cuts, a width of only 2 fingers and a maximum weight of 350 grams. (One of us was a butcher)
A real shame for a price of 44 €!
For dessert, chocolate cake and "tocino de cielo", that with the 40% discount the price was correct.
In short: It took 2.5 hours to dinner with a a very slow and inefficient service despite being the 50% room occupancy.
A value for money absurd and misleading. With 40% off, every one of Us paid about 40 € without drinking wine. Without a website discount, this restaurant is ridiculously expensive.
Very disappointed because this was one of my most recommended restaurants in Madrid.

First of all I would like to apologize about the inconveniences we have caused.
As you can see in any of the ranking that ex libris appear, not only trip advisor, our customers generally like our service and our restoration, therefore we must be doing something right.
Anyone can have a bad day and it seems that day was our bad day, we reiterate our apologies for this, believe me that we hard on not have that kind of bad days.
The dish you comment has been on our meal for 6 months and we never had any complaints about it, I do not know what could have happened that day because we check every piece of meat served at Ex libris, weight and quality.
I wonder why if you have been eight times at ex libris why you never wrote a possitive post. I think that if you have repeated so many times it is because we have done it right, as I said before, everyone can have a bad day......except us.
Anyway let me again apologize and work to prevent this from happening again.
