Description: Ex librisAt Ex libris we offer traditional food with fresh products garnished with the chef’s creation. It gives our dishes a modern look without forgetting our Mediterranean roots.Fresh garden products: vegetables and legumes are a great addition to our meat and fish. A great selection of hot and cold starters, carefully and lovingly prepared by chef team, will make your meals, whether during leisure or business very pleasantWe believe a pleasant and cosy setting in a central location (Chueca – Gran Vía) is the necessary ingredient to come back for a meal again. We make an effort for that to happen. This is accompanied by the meticulous service provided by the sommelier and his team who will also be happy to help you, if you like, in selecting wines.

“I'm a little unimpressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2011

I'm starting to thing that trip advisor suggestions in Madrid is a bit of a letdown. The food is good, the decor is nice the value is decent but it does not live up to its rating I am afraid. Service was a bit inattentive too. I think from now we will set trip advisor aside while in town.

We feel real sorry about your satisfaction with your visit to Ex libris.

Precisely the service of our waiters is one of the most highly valued aspects of the restaurant, we all have a bad day and maybe, the day you came to Ex Libris was one of them, we really apologize about it.

If we score so high is because our customers have considered as well. We already have 390 opinions about this restaurant which we opened 8 years ago, we must be doing something well to be still open after this complicated years.

Any way we are really sorry about this matter and hope that if you come back anytime maybe we can surprise you.

Sincerely,

David Cachavera

“Top class tasting menu at affordable prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

I went there with my wife and we were impressed by the quality, presentation and imagination of the dishes in the tasting menu. It was one of the best meals we can remember! But you should try to book on-line because we found one of these last-minute offers and we paid half the price of what the menu stated, and I think the young couple sitting next to us were not aware of those special offers and they paid the full price for a more ordinary meal.

Thank you very much for your kind comments.

Indeed we have offers you can apply directly to the restaurant staff especially in the tasting menu.

We are pleased that have left satisfied especially seeing that your are people who are accustomed to go out for diner.

Sincerely,

“How Can This Be So Highly Recommended?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2011

Ok - so this is where TA totally confuses me. First off, EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW that this restaurant is connected to a hotel (LUSSO INFANTAS MADRID). Now that may not bother some people, but I rarely, rarely enjoy eating in restaurants owned by hotels. The second thing is that the food just simply isn't good enough...the squid that I had was utterly bland, tasteless, which was incredibly disappointing given that as I write this restaurant sits in the top 10 TA listings for Madrid. Atmosphere was mute - a handful of other (mostly English-speaking) diners scattered about..Had a great Greek meal just down the road the following day, but more of that anon..

Dear customer,

Our Hotel restaurant is attached to the Lusso Infantas Hotel but with direct connection to the street and totally independent operation without having anything to do with the normal operation of a hotel restaurant.

We have been leading this restaurante the las 7 years with a pretty good general criticism of both national and international audience so I think we must be doing something right.

I really feel sorry because you did not enjoyed your visit, we put much effort into all of our customers go happy.

I think being a restaurant attached to a hotel, as you say, has conditioned the rest of your visit.

I reiterate my apology about it.

Sincerely

“Real close to great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2011

Appetizers excellent
Somewhat let down by entries
Not warm enough and cream sauce on cod a bit heavy
Desserts also slightly off, cheese cake served frozen
The components are there for greatness but they fall short
