“The best seafood in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

If you like seafood this is a place to be: they serve you a huge amount of super fresh boiled seafood of the best quality without any condiment and greasy stuff.
If you like octopus they also make an excellent pulpo a la gallega with smoked paprika and the desserts are home made and tasty (try the flan casero). Service is fast and friendly.

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Don't expect anything fancy or romantic. The place is always crowded and noisy and you will probably have to wait one or two hours before having a table assigned.
Seafood is good and comes in huge portions. The mariscada for 2 can be actually shared in 3.
It's a great place for coming with friends. Wine is cheap, seafood is cheap and decent. The place is really centric, right by Fuencarral, close to Gran Via and Callao.
I had a really good time and enjoyed the seafood. It reminded me of another place in Nice (France), le café de Turin. Cold seafood in huge quantity. The service is really fast, considering the amount of people dining there.

“Seafood galore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

We first came across this place when we were in desperate need of a quick caña after shopping in the Fuencarral area. It was early evening and the place was packed. We got a tapa with our beer and watched them preparing mariscadas for the imminent rush of evening diners. We decided to come back some time to have a proper sit down meal.

We came back on a Thursday at madrileño lunch time, i.e. some time between 14:30 or 15:00. Again, it was busy but we managed to get a table. We ordered a bottle of cava and went for the mariscada, an enormous pile of prawns, cray fish, langoustines, barnacles, swimming crab and crab. It was very tasty, but I was defeated about half way through. My partner slowly chomped his way through it all.

When he finally finished two hours later, the Spanish "ladies who lunch" sitting next to us expressed their admiration for his perseverance saying they had not expected us to finish. They on the other hand had worked their way through octopus and crabs and were now on some flabmbé desert which looked amazing.

When we asked for the bill we were offered the traditional digestive: orujo, a pomace brandy. At that point a couple came in and asked for a table. They were told that the place was now closed and that they would reopen at 19:00. It was only then that I noticed that we and the Spanish ladies next to us were the only diners left. Across the room the waiters had sat down for their lunch. Nobody was hurrying us although it was 17:15 by now and they had officially shut for their lunch or break at 17:00. I can't imagine this happening back home. We went home very full and satisfied. I am sure we'll be back during our next Madrid trip.

“BEAUTIFUL SEAFOOD IN THE HEART OF MADRID”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Excellent seafood restaurant with all sorts of seafood and fish. The serving is very generous: a dish that should serve two actually serves three people. Wine is good even if you order first price. But I do not recommend the Marisqueria if you want a "tête à tête" with your partner it's much too crowded and noisy. I was with a group of friends and we enjoyed the evening.
