“Best location in Logrono”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Besides reasonable price and cleanliness, there are 3 things we look for in a hotel:
Location close to restaurants and bars in a safe neighbourhood; Parking and free WIFI. The Sercotel Portales clicked all the boxes. While the parking was not free, it was indoors on hotel premises and safe for our rental car. The WIFI signal was weak but adequate for our needs although just about. Everything else was extremely positive. The hotel staff were friendly, the rooms and public areas were spotless and the location was perfect for experiencing the ambience of the city at night. It is also next door to the Tourism Office. This is our second time using the Sercotel chain (the other was the Liabeny in Madrid) and we were not disappointed. I will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool or fitness centre but boxes needed to be clicked!

Small but pleasant town, location of the hotel is perfect, right at the beginning of the main walkway of the center. Room is ok, not too large nor too small. Very modern and stylish bathroom equipment. Free wifi in your room. Price is very reasonable. A bit adventurous parking garage under the hotel, you put your car in an elevator: costs euro 14,25 for 24 hours. We ate very good in restaurant La Colonny, which open for dinner at 19.00 hours.

Chosen for being within staggering distance of the pinxtos bars of Calle Laurel and San Juan. Clean, minimalist style, comfortable bed, helpful staff, garage (small spaces! Entry by lift). Reasonable breakfast, reasonable value. Really, what more could you want? Our GPS had trouble finding it because it is in a pedestrian precinct, but once we took notIce of the signposts instead, it was easy enough to get to. An ideal base for touring vineyards of Rioja by car and enjoying the old town of Logrono on foot.

Room Tip: Upper floors at the front ( ours was 503) have a nice view to the mountains.

THe Portales Hotel is located right on what I consider to be the main street in Logrono - albeit the quieter end but right adjacent to Calle Laurel (tapas bar central!). The staff were lovely and my room was great - quiet & a beautiful bathroom with a full selection of toiletries. Breakfast was very good. There was an assortment of fresh fruit, muesil, goji berries, linseed, yogurts, nice bread and freshly made coffee. Would recommend to anyone wishing to explore Logrono.

This is a good quality hotel well located for walkers on the Camino & the old town/main square, shopping district & musuems in Logrono. the lobby, bar/retsurant and rooms are all well decorated with a modern boutique feel to the hotel. The room & bathroom were large and airy with all the standard facilities. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Only downside was room facing onto square - nice view but noisy from midnight to about 6AM with crowds going to/from city centre.

This is an average hotel that has earned a rating of very good, why? Because it is in an excellent location in a beautiful, interesting city with friendly staff who were pleasant and very helpful. The hotel was clean, well appointed, comfortable and excellent value.
Logrono is, deservedly, reputed to be second only to San Sebastian in the realm of "tapas trails" and this hotel is perfectly located to explore the grid of streets and alleyways that constitute both tapas areas but is closer to the more interesting and larger of the two. A wonderful place to visit with activities for every taste and being the capital of Rioja region may hint at one of them although as in all provincial capitals the shopping is excellent. We discovered many specialist food shops including a fantastic little shop near the indoor market that specialised in pepper and pimenton et al and an interesting cheese shop offering a wonderful international, albeit a tad pricey, selection. Our second night here was 5th January so the Three Kings parade was a must see and that the bars and restaurants were full of families for an hour or so after the parade was absolutely delightful.
Portales Hotel was not easy to find but turning off the GPS did simplify matters and it really is perfectly located to take full advantage of what is a wonderful place to visit.
Interestingly during our tapas trailing we kept bumping into Spanish Tourists who were visiting Logrono as a holiday destination: speaks volumes really.
Will definitely visit Logrono again and will stay in this hotel.

Great standard hotel, modern bright and clean - right on the Camino de Santiago. Easy access to many restaurants and bars there are a couple of coffee shops just a few metres away which is handy for breakfast.
